Disciplined, traditional, with a serious streak, Capricorns are independent and good leaders. They\u2019re smart and exacting in the work that they do, and include some of the most celebrated composers in classical music.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frances Jean Marcel Poulenc<\/strong> (7 January 1899 \u2013 30 January 1963) exemplifies a Capricorn\u2019s industrious independence: he was mostly self-taught after his parents did not support his musical ambitions. They can be eccentric, introspective, intellectuals who also love to take on energy that surrounds them. Don\u2019t let an Aquarius get bored though, they need motivation to achieve their best results.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re in good company with a number of great composers, but no one fits the description as well as <strong>Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart<\/strong>.\u00a0 As a child prodigy, travelling around Europe would have provided Mozart with lots of mental stimulation to motivate him and improve his skills as a pianist and composer.\u00a0 With his strong independent streak, Mozart resigned from his position working for the Archbishop Colloredo and pursued a career as a freelance composer in Vienna.<\/p>\n<p>Others: Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn, and Alban Berg.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>\u2653 Pisces, February 20 \u2013 March 20<\/h3>\n<p>Pisces are empathetic, artistic, and friendly people.\u00a0 They often express a desire to escape reality, with a strong imagination that likes to romanticize the future.<\/p>\n<p>While they might not seem it now, <strong>George Frideric Handel<\/strong>\u2019s (23 February 1685 \u2013 14 April 1759) music was utterly dramatic in his day.\u00a0 His compassion and empathy shine through his expressive music that is still popular today.\u00a0 Pisces are very likeable \u2014 in fact Handel was so well-liked that the British Parliament passed an act to make him a naturalized British Citizen in 1727.<\/p>\n<p>Others: Morten Lauridsen and Giacomo Rossini.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u2648 Aries, March 21 \u2013 April 20<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65728\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Bach-Aries.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Bach-Aries.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Bach-Aries-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Bach-Aries-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Bach-Aries-768x402.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Aries have some of the strongest personalities out there. They\u2019re confident, enthusiastic, and determined.\u00a0 They love to be the first in everything, and can be prolifically productive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joseph Hayden<\/strong> (31 March 1732 \u2013 31 May 1809) and <strong>J.S. Bach<\/strong> (31 March 1685 \u2013 28 July 1750) are serious Aries. They actually have the same birthday! It doesn\u2019t get a whole lot more prolific than these two: Hayden is considered the father of both the symphony (over 100 works) and the string quartet (over 80 works), while Bach was a pioneer of 4-part counterpoint and credited with writing over 1000 works!<\/p>\n<p>Others: Modest Mussorgsky and Andrew Lloyd Weber.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u2649 Taurus, April 21 \u2013 May 21<\/h3>\n<p>Taurus\u2019s like to be surrounded by beauty. While they\u2019re known to be reliable and sometimes a little conservative, they\u2019re also prone to flights of fancy and revel in sensual pleasures.\u00a0 They can also be stubborn, and will stick it out through a tough situation if they believe the payoff will be worth it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky<\/strong>\u2019s (7 May 1840\u00a0 \u2013 6 November 1893) ballets are the perfect example of a Taurus\u2019s sensual side.\u00a0 Who else could create music so evocative of sugar and candy?\u00a0 His career also shows the tenacious side of Taurus \u2013 there were few opportunities for composers in Russia at the time, and he was one of the first Russian composers to gain a reputation outside of Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Others Prokofiev, Duke Ellington, Brahms, Tchaikovsky (Same birthday as Brahms), and Monteverdi.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u264a Gemini, May 22 \u2013 June 21<\/h3>\n<p>The famous twin sign \u2013 Geminis have lots of moods that almost seem to be different personalities.\u00a0 They love to learn and are very curious, and their affectionate side makes them great friends! Geminis crave novelty and fun but can switch from being lighthearted to serious very quickly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Edward Elgar<\/strong> (2 June 1857 \u2013 23 February 1934) is a classic Gemini.\u00a0 His Enigma Variations best shows the many sides of a Gemini composer: playful, poignant, affectionate, mischievous, dark and restless.<\/p>\n<p>Others:\u00a0 Iannis Xenakis, Thea Musgrave, Gy\u00f6rgy Ligeti, Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss, and Edvard Grieg.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u264b Cancer, June 22 \u2013 July 22<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65731\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Mahler-cancer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Mahler-cancer.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Mahler-cancer-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Mahler-cancer-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Mahler-cancer-768x402.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sensitive Cancer\u2019s keep their friends close and their mothers closer. They\u2019re super loyal, sympathetic and persuasive, but they can have a bit of a dark and moody side.\u00a0 At times they can be reluctant to share details of their private life, but once you get to know them they love good times spent with friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Percy Grainger<\/strong> was a cancer to a hyperbolic degree.\u00a0 Fiercely loyal to his native Australia, his music was vividly imaginative. Oh, and he was also rumoured to have an incestuous relationship with his mother\u2026 and he was into some pretty weird sex stuff that only came to light when researchers opened a box that he directed to be kept in a bank vault until 10 years after he died. (Talk about keeping your private life private!)<\/p>\n<p>A more mainstream Cancer, <strong>Gustav Mahler<\/strong> (7 July 1860 \u2013 18 May 1911) shows the sentimental nature of cancer in his writings, he took inspiration from many sources to reflect his nostalgia for childhood. His serious and moody side makes an appearance in many of his compositions, and that\u2019s part of what makes them so powerful.<\/p>\n<p>Others: Leroy Anderson and Carl Orff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>\u264c Leo, July 23 \u2013 August 22<\/h3>\n<p>Charismatic Leos are born to lead. With a creative streak, passionate Leos often excel at anything they put their minds to.\u00a0 They\u2019ve got a strong sense of humour and love to collaborate, but don\u2019t like being ignored or being along for too long.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Claude Debussy<\/strong> (22 August 1862 \u2013 25 March 1918) wrote much of his music as a reaction against the popular German-style of music during his lifetime, becoming one of the first \u2018impressionist\u2019 composers even though he disliked the term.\u00a0 As one of the most prominent French composers, Debussy fits the description of a Leo as being \u2018King of the Jungle\u2019 and forging their own path.<\/p>\n<p>Others: Edward Gregson and Bennedetto Marcello.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>\u264d Virgo, August 23 \u2013 September 23<\/h3>\n<p>Sometimes a little too self-critical, Virgos are hardworking and practical.\u00a0 They\u2019re kind-hearted and love the small organizational details found in nature.\u00a0 They love rationality and can be uncomfortable when unpredictable emotions surface.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anton Bruckner<\/strong> (4 September 1824 \u2013 11 October 1896) is famous for his self-criticism, reworking his own compositions and inviting others to do the same so much that it created \u2018The Bruckner Problem\u2019.\u00a0 \u2018The Bruckner Problem\u2019 is that there are so many versions of his music that no one is really sure which is the final version.\u00a0 Bruckner was also very humble and a little bit shy \u2013 a classic Virgo.<\/p>\n<p>Others: Leonard Bernstein, Antonin Dvorak, Arvo Part, and Gustav Holst.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u264e Libra, September 24 \u2013 October 23<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65732\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Shostakovich-libra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Shostakovich-libra.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Shostakovich-libra-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Shostakovich-libra-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/Shostakovich-libra-768x402.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Diplomatic Libras are social and gracious. While they hate conflict, they aren\u2019t afraid to hold a grudge, but that weakness is more than compensated for with Libras love of sharing, harmony, and the outdoors.\u00a0 Even though Libras are cooperative and diplomatic, don\u2019t expect them to blindly conform to the status quo.<\/p>\n<p>No-one exemplifies the tension between a Libra\u2019s reluctance to conform and their diplomatic side better than <strong>Dimitri Shostakovich<\/strong> (25 September 1906 \u2013 9 August 1975).\u00a0 He managed to navigate the incredibly difficult political situation in Soviet Russia throughout his life, and although he did fall out of official favour more than once, he always managed to bounce back.<\/p>\n<p>Others: George Gershwin and Giuseppe Verdi.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u264f Scorpio, October 24 \u2013 November 22<\/h3>\n<p>Stubborn Scorpios are passionate and resourceful.\u00a0 Even though at times they can be a bit jealous and secretive, once you earn their trust, they are a true friend.\u00a0 They value facts and truth, and care deeply about their longtime friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Hindemith<\/strong> (16 November 1895 \u2013 28 December 1963) is a true friend to pretty much every kind of musician out there \u2014 having written a solo sonata for every orchestral instrument, and music for organ, piano, voice, and even wind band.\u00a0 He lived through some of the most turbulent events of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century, and his success is a sure sign of his Scorpio resourcefulness.<\/p>\n<p>Others Georges Bizet, Nicolo Pagganini, Samuel Scheidt, John Philip Sousa, and Scott Joplin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>\u2650 Sagittarius, November 23 \u2013 December 21<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65730\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/beethoven-Sagittarius.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/beethoven-Sagittarius.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/beethoven-Sagittarius-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/beethoven-Sagittarius-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/01\/beethoven-Sagittarius-768x402.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With a big heart and a bit of wanderlust, energetic Sagittarius\u2019 relentlessly pursue their goals even when they seem unattainable to those around them.\u00a0 They have a great sense of humour, but can be very impatient when they face constraints.<\/p>\n<p>While <strong>Ludwig van Beethoven<\/strong> (baptized 17 December 1770 \u2013 26 March 1827) is the obvious choice for a Sagittarius composer, <strong>Louis Prima<\/strong> better fits the energetic and humorous description of a Sagittarius (plus, we all know about Beethoven already, right?). Prima (December 7, 1910 \u2013 August 24, 1978) was a playful man of many talents. His various projects shaped the jazz and swing music scenes throughout the 1900s.
