Ben Dietschi<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Announced yesterday, Ben Dietschi will be leaving his role as Executive Director of Soundstreams\u00a0<\/a>on\u00a0November 18, 2019.<\/p>\n

After four years in the role, Dietschi will join the\u00a0DeVos Institute of Arts Management<\/a> at the University of Maryland, as a senior consultant.\u00a0While\u00a0DeVos Institute of Arts Management is located in the US, Dietschi will remain in Toronto.<\/p>\n

In a press release statement,\u00a0Dietschi said the decision to leave was not an easy one, and that he was grateful to Soundstreams for shaping his arts management career.\u00a0He has served as\u00a0Executive Director since 2016, and according to Soundstreams, will be leaving the contemporary music presenter in a good position moving forward.<\/p>\n

Since 2015,\u00a0Soundstreams has eliminated its accumulated deficit and expanded its revenues by stunning $590K (67%). Besides paying down debt, the funds have been used towards more elaborate concerts including opera and staged work, as well as launching an international touring program.<\/p>\n

\u201cBen has guided us through some incredible growth and laid strong foundations for our future ambitions,” said Daniel Weinzweig, board president. “His passionate, rigorous, and transparent leadership helped create a spirit of collaboration and trust between board and staff as the organization grew. It will be exciting to continue our trajectory with a fresh perspective from Ben\u2019s successor. Growing audiences here in Toronto and in our upcoming major tours will be a priority.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSoundstreams started in my basement 37 years ago, hoping to foster Canadian music and build a legacy for it,” said Lawrence Cherney, Artistic Director of Soundstreams. \u201cBen has played a key role in helping us to realize our dreams for Canadian music, and his successor will have an unparalleled opportunity to nourish and broaden that vision.\u201d<\/p>\n
