The Toronto Consort<\/strong> has announced today two new members joining the ensemble: Cory Knight (tenor) and Esteban La Rotta (plucked instruments).<\/p>\n Cory Knight<\/strong> is a familiar voice in the early music community and has worked with The Toronto Consort, Tafelmusik Chamber Choir, Pacific Opera Victoria, Les Violon Du Roy, and Opera Atelier.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve had many wonderful experiences working with this group as a guest artist over the years,\u201d said Knight. \u201cIn fact, The Toronto Consort has had a significant influence on my development as a musician and helped foster my love for Early Music. To be a part of this ensemble is to be a part of a creative and supportive atmosphere where sharing the joy of music-making is not only the end goal but a part of the process.\u201d<\/p>\n As one of Canada\u2019s leading lutenists, Esteban La Rotta<\/strong> is a specialist in early renaissance repertoire for solo theorbo, and has performed extensively with Festival Montr\u00e9al Baroque Ensemble Gilles Binchois, Les Violons du Roy, Les Voix Humaines, Les id\u00e9es Heureuses, the SMAM, Ensemble Caprice, and Pallade Musica.<\/p>\n “Becoming an Artistic Associate makes me feel that I’m helping to write The Toronto Consort\u2019s history,\u201d La Rotta said. \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to being a part of this process and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to explore some of my own musical ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n La Rotta will be replacing longtime Toronto Consort member, Terry McKenna<\/strong>.<\/a>\u00a0who will be leaving to focus on teaching and other projects.<\/p>\n Knight and La Rotta join long-time Consort members Michele DeBoer, David Fallis, Ben Grossman, Katherine Hill, Paul Jenkins, Alison Melville, John Pepper, and Laura Pudwell.<\/p>\n Want more updates on classical music and opera news and reviews?
