It stars American baritone Thomas Hampson as Hadrian, Canadian tenor Isaiah Bell as Antinous, Finnish soprano Karita Mattila as Plotina, and Canadian soprano Ambur Braid is Sabina. Canadian heldentenor Ben Heppner comes out of retirement to sing the cameo role of Dinarchus.
