Bach, in keeping with the festival&#8217;s commemoration of Glenn Gould&#8217;s 80th birthday. Gould was a regular visitor to the festival&#8217;s original incarnation five decades ago, and, of course, the link to Bach came along with that.<\/p>\n<p>Tafelmusik music director Jeanne Lamon is in charge of a 10-member instrumental contingent both days.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5587\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5587\" style=\"width: 198px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/musicaltorontodotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/tyler.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5587\" title=\"tyler\" src=\"http:\/\/musicaltorontodotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/08\/tyler.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5587\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tyler Duncan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Saturday, baritone <a href=\"http:\/\/tylerduncan.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Duncan<\/a> sings arias from two cantatas, while the orchestra presents, among other things, two favourite compositions: the <em>Orchestral Suite No. 1<\/em> in C, BWV 1066 and the <em>Concerto for Two Violins<\/em> in D, BWV 1043, featuring Lamon and Julia Wedman as the soloists.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, the spotlight is on three chestnuts for solo voice, with Canadian star countertenor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatreofearlymusic.com\/dthome.html\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Taylor<\/a> singing Cantatas 54 (<em>Widerstehe doch der S\u00fcnde<\/em>) and 170 (<em>Vergn\u00fcgte Ruh<\/em>), and Duncan performing Cantata 82 (<em>Ich habe genug<\/em>). The orchestra also plays the <em>Suite No. 3<\/em> in D (BWV 1068).<\/p>\n<p>Tafelmusik and Taylor released a recording of Cantatas 54 and 170 on the Analekta label last year. The Juno-nominated disc was notable for the rich colouring of the orchestra and Taylor&#8217;s trademark soulful singing.
