(Photo courtesy of the artist)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Ludwig Van&#8217;s Q&amp;A series\u00a0is composed of a bank of questions aimed at artists who have made a serious mark on Toronto\u2019s music scene. We&#8217;re still not sure what&#8217;s more fun: answering them or reading them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Originally from Terrace, British Columbia, soprano <a href=\"http:\/\/amburbraid.com\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ambur Braid<\/a>\u00a0got her start at the COC Ensemble Studio. Braid has gone on to an international career with major roles in the English National Opera, Oper Frankfurt,\u00a0National Sawdust,\u00a0Teatro de S\u00e3o Carlos, the Canadian Opera Company, and Calgary Opera. I read an unusual amount of advertising books in my high school years, and the best one was probably <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.ca\/Secret-Formulas-Wizard-Ads-Turning\/dp\/1885167393\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Secret Formulas of the Wizard of Ads<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Where was the last place you travelled to for work or pleasure?<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ve just returned from Frankfurt, where I had some more performances of <em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3>What is your biggest phobia?<\/h3>\n<p>Crowds and dolphins.<\/p>\n<h3>Where did you go to school?<\/h3>\n<p>Terrace, Victoria, Toronto, and San Francisco.<\/p>\n<h3>The clich\u00e9 that you overuse?<\/h3>\n<p>Call. The. Cops.<\/p>\n<h3>The strangest talent that you possess?<\/h3>\n<p>I can find\/sniff out the source of mould in a house or building.<\/p>\n<h3>The different career path that you could have gone on?<\/h3>\n<p>Being a sommelier or event planning.<\/p>\n<h3>Your ancestry?<\/h3>\n<p>English\/Irish, French\/German, Scandinavian and Iberian.
