NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ONTARIO \u2014 February 22, 2017: On Saturday, March 10, 2018<\/a>, Bravo Niagara!<\/a> presents renowned Canadian classical pianist Jan Lisiecki at the historic 1792 St. Mark\u2019s Anglican Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake at 7:30 pm.<\/p>\n

Just 22, Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki has won acclaim for his extraordinary interpretive maturity, distinctive sound, and poetic sensibility. The New York Times has called him \u201ca pianist who makes every note count\u201d. Lisiecki\u2019s insightful interpretations, refined technique, and natural affinity for art give him a musical voice that belies his age.<\/p>\n

Lisiecki was brought to international attention in 2010, after the Fryderyk Chopin Institute issued a recording of Chopin\u2019s piano concertos, performed live by Jan at age 13 and 14. BBC Music Magazine wrote of the \u201cmature musicality\u201d of his playing and commended the \u201csensitively distilled\u201d insights of his Chopin interpretations; the release was awarded the prestigious \u2018Diapason D\u00e9couverte\u2019. Confirming his status among the most imaginative and poetic pianists of his generation, Deutsche Grammophon signed an exclusive contract with Jan in 2011, when he was just 15 years old. The pianist\u2019s development has taken place in company with many of the world\u2019s leading orchestras, including the Orchestre de Paris, New York Philharmonic, and BBC Symphony, at venues such as Suntory Hall, the Kennedy, Lincoln, and Barbican Centres, and Royal Albert Hall.<\/p>\n

In early 2017, Jan Lisiecki\u2019s latest album of Chopin\u2019s seldom performed works for piano and orchestra with NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and Krzysztof Urba\u0144ski was published by Deutsche Grammophon. The album was recently named CBC Music\u2019s Favourite Canadian Classical Album of 2017 and nominated for a JUNO Award.<\/p>\n

Foremost radio and television networks in Europe and North America have extensively broadcast Lisiecki\u2019s performances, and he was also the subject of the CBC National News documentary \u2018The Reluctant Prodigy\u2019. In 2013 he received the Leonard Bernstein Award at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and was also named as \u2018Gramophone magazine\u2019s Young Artist of the Year\u2019.<\/p>\n

Jan is involved in charity work, donating his time and performance to such organizations as the David Foster Foundation, the Polish Humanitarian Organization and the Wish Upon a Star Foundation. In 2012 he was named UNICEF Ambassador to Canada having been a National Youth Representative since 2008.<\/p>\n
