Announced today at a press conference at the London Music Hall, London Ontario will host\u00a0The 2019 JUNO Awards\u00a0along with all JUNO Week festivities,\u00a0March 11 \u2013 March 17, 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to host the 2019 JUNO Week celebrations here in London,\u201d said\u00a0Chris Campbell, Director of Culture & Entertainment Tourism.\u00a0 As one of Canada\u2019s emerging cultural scenes we are excited to show the world how culturally rich and diverse London is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell said the awards will be an opportunity to showcase London\u2019s hospitality and growing music scene.<\/p>\n

The announcement marks the first time London will host the Juno Awards.<\/p>\n

Previous cities include St. John\u2019s\u00a0(2002 and 2010), Ottawa (2003,\u00a02012 and 2017), Edmonton (2004), Winnipeg (2005 and 2014), Halifax (2006), Saskatoon (2007), Calgary (2008 and 2016), Vancouver (2009 and 2018), Toronto (2011), Regina (2013), and Hamilton (2015).<\/p>\n

\u201cOntario is a key music hub in Canada and North America,\u201d said\u00a0Daiene Vernile, Ontario\u2019s Minister of Tourism, Culture\u00a0and\u00a0Sport.\u00a0\u201cOur vibrant culture is driven by our exceptional talent and diversity, making Ontario a great fit for hosting the JUNO Awards in 2019. We have a thriving music industry that makes a significant contribution to Ontario\u2019s economy by creating jobs, generating sales and building the province\u2019s profile at an international level. I am thrilled to welcome the JUNOS to London.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite a difficult decade for the recording industry, the Juno Awards have been an important economic generator for local music communities, with an average economic impact of $10M for host cities.<\/p>\n

The 48th Annual JUNO Awards will be broadcast live on CBC from\u00a0Budweiser Gardens, on\u00a0Sunday, March 17, 2019.<\/p>\n
