Just two months away from the Toronto debut of Nikolai Gogol\u2019s The Overcoat:\u00a0A Musical Tailoring,<\/em>\u00a0Tapestry Opera has announced the casting for the much anticipated operatic comic-tragedy.<\/p>\n

Baritone Geoffrey Sirett will play the lead role donning the famous coat. Asitha Tennekoon, whom readers might recall from Tapestry\u2019s Rocking Horse Winner, will sing the Manager. Toronto mainstay Peter McGillivray will play Head of Department. Other casting includes Andrea Ludwig (Landlady), Meher Pavri (Secretary), Keith Klassen (Mokiya) Aaron Durand (Sossiya), and Giles Tomkins (Khodozat). The Mad Chorus will be played by Erica Iris, Caitlin Wood and Magali Simard-Gald\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

The premiere takes place this March 29 at the Bluma Appel Theatre in Toronto, followed by the Vancouver premiere on April 28 at the Vancouver Playhouse as part of the Vancouver Opera Festival.<\/p>\n
