January 14<\/span> <\/strong><\/a>\u2013 Piano Dialogue, David Jalbert & Wonny Song<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201c\u2026 are evenly matched in virtuosity and temperament, with a similar hefty sound, snappy rhythmic attack, and feeling for the orchestral possibilities of their combined instruments.\u201d <\/em>\u2013 Artsfile.ca Dec 4. They dazzled the Ottawa audience with their theatrical performance of Rachmaninoff (Suite No. 1), Milhaud (Scaramouche), and Stravinsky (P\u00e9trouchka). February 18<\/a> <\/span>\u2013 Paul Huang, violin <\/strong>and Helen Huang, piano\u00a0 <\/strong>Taiwanese-American Paul (age 27) is emerging on the world stage, invited by Valery Gergiev to perform this season with the Mariinsky Orchestra. Helen (no relation) has performed with several major orchestras including the New York and London Philharmonic. Together they perform an ambitious program \u2013 Dvor\u00e1k, Prokofiev, Cyril Scott, de Sarasate, ending with Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019 Violin Sonata No. 1 in D minor, Op. 75.<\/p>\n

April 15<\/a><\/span> \u2013 Forestare Ensemble\u00a0 <\/strong>This unique Qu\u00e9bec-based group comprises 12 guitars and two double basses, who do their own adaptations and arranging. They will perform works from their acclaimed CD Baroque<\/em>, by Lully (from\u00a0Le Bourgeois gentilhomme), Vivaldi (Concerto No. 2, RV578), and J.S. Bach\u2019s\u00a0Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, BWV 1048. \u201cForestare has managed to create a sound that is distinct\u2026The effect created by this mass of guitars\u2026is quite simply striking.\u201d-\u00a0<\/em>La Presse.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $40 (Jan 14) and $30 (Feb 18, Apr 15); under age 30, tickets only $20. All seating is general admission so patrons get their personal choice in location. Performances held at Walter Hall, Edward Johnson Building, University of Toronto, 80 Queen\u2019s Park Crescent (Museum subway), Sundays at 3:15 pm (Concert Series) or 1:15-2: 15 pm (Music & Truffles<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Artists featured in our Concert Series also perform a one-hour interactive concert for young people ages 6-11 and their parents, grandparents, and friends (1:15-2: 15 pm same dates as above). The artists along with our on-stage host Joanna have fun with the music stimulating a youngsters\u2019 appreciation through performance and entertainment. Tickets are $20 per person. Everyone receives a Lindt chocolate at the end. Sweet!<\/p>\n
