Uri Mayer conducts the Faculty Artists Chamber Ensemble in Mahler\u2019s Songs of a Wayfarer<\/em> and Symphony No. 4<\/em>, with soprano Monica Whicher and tenor Darryl Edwards. John Neumeier\u2019s Nijinsky<\/em> is described as both a biographical narrative and a \u201cmemory-ballet,\u201d story-telling from the character\u2019s own perspective. The U of T Opera School\u2019s fall production is the great Mozart masterpiece Don Giovanni<\/em>. Uri Mayer conducts the U of T Orchestra, with staging by Marilyn Gronsdal. All roles taken by students in the U of T opera program; sung in Italian with English surtitles. Opera Talk<\/em>, a pre-performance lecture, takes place 30 minutes before curtain in Room 130 of Edward Johnson Building. | Listing<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Toronto Symphony Orchestra<\/span> | Mahler: Symphony No. 6 8 p.m. Roy Thomson Hall. Repeats Nov. 25, 7:30 p.m. $40.75-$154.00<\/p>\n

Scottish conductor Donald Runnicles is in town for the monumental Mahler Symphony No. 6<\/em>. Maestro Runnicles is known for tackling large-scale works. I heard him conduct an unforgettable Wagner\u2019s Ring Cycle<\/em> last April, in his home theatre of Deutsche Oper Berlin. Members of the Toronto Wagner Society are given the opportunity to attend a rehearsal on Tuesday 1:30 \u2013 5 pm. and meet the Maestro for a Q&A.
