Each artist picks and chooses, with a minimum response of 20.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>A staple composer in Toronto,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamesrolfe.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>James Rolfe<\/strong><\/a> has worked in many facets of creative life in our city, from choral, chamber and solo works, to feature length operas. Accolades include\u00a0a Guggenheim Fellowship, the K. M. Hunter Music Award, the Louis Applebaum Composers Award, the Jules L\u00e9ger Prize for New Chamber Music.<\/p>\n<p>Particularly gifted in dramatic works, Rolfe is best known for his opera <strong><em>Swoon<\/em><\/strong> for Canadian Opera Company. The success of his 1998 opera\u00a0<i>Beatrice Chancy<\/i>\u00a0with The Queen of Puddings has become an example for future grass-roots operas in the city.<\/p>\n<p>You can hear Rolfe&#8217;s new CD, <strong><em>Breathe<\/em><\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamesrolfe.ca\/events\/breathe-cd-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launching Oct 21<\/a>, 2017 at Trinity St. Paul&#8217;s Centre at 10 p.m. The CD\u00a0includes works for voices and early instruments including performers\u00a0Suzie LeBlanc, Monica Whicher, and Alexander Dobson, with conductors David Fallis and Larry Beckwith, and members of the Toronto Consort and the Toronto Masque Theatre.<\/p>\n<h3>What are three things about Toronto that make you want to live here?<\/h3>\n<p>The people.
