Tomasz Konieczny is a fantastic Manryka. COC\u2019s first Artist-in-Residence Jane Archibald sings her first Zdenka. On the program are songs by Saint-Sa\u00ebns, Finzi, Mendelssohn, Strauss and Faur\u00e9. The originally planned Schumann songs seems to have disappeared! Liz Upchurch is the pianist. The concert also features a new song cycle for mezzo and orchestra by composer Howard Shore. John Abram\u2019s <em>Start: Sesquie for Canada 150<\/em> opens the concert. This concert juxtaposes Purcell\u2019s iconic <em>Dido and Aeneas<\/em> composed in 1687 with James Rolfe\u2019s <em>Aeneas and Dido<\/em> (2007).
