Tafelmusik Music Director Elisa Citterio makes national touring debut November 21 to 26 in Qu\u00e9bec, New Brunswick, PEI, and Nova Scotia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There is only one way to get to know Canada. And that\u2019s with a\u00a0road trip.<\/p>\n

Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra Music Director Elisa Citterio will be\u00a0heading off for her national touring debut on November 21 to Qu\u00e9bec, New Brunswick, PEI, and Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n

Besides Toronto, Citterio has so far only see Ottawa for a\u00a0performance at the swearing-in of Her Excellency Julie Payette as Governor-General.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am truly excited to be embarking on my first Canadian tour with the orchestra, almost exactly two years after having made my Tafelmusik debut,\u201d Citterio says. “I am very much looking forward to meeting new audiences in different regions of Canada that are completely new to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coming along for the ride will be their 2015 Bach program, The Circle of Creation<\/em>. The multimedia work will be\u00a0performed over six days with stops in Montreal (Nov. 21), Sackville (Nov. 22), Charlottetown (Nov. 23). Antigonish (Nov. 24), Wolfville (Nov. 25), and Halifax (Nov. 26).<\/p>\n

The program was created by double bassist Alison Mackay and explores the hidden world of 18th-century instruments. The elaborate\u00a0production features projections of microscopic images taken by a curator from the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History of hidden parts of instruments that can\u2019t be seen by the naked eye.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the images will be an all-Bach program including Brandenburg Concerto no. 3 in G Major; sections from the Orchestral Suites, and Sonata for two violins and continuo in G Major; solo works for violin, cello, and harpsichord; excerpts from the Goldberg Variations;\u00a0and instrumental excerpts from five cantatas.<\/p>\n

Lucky for Citterio, the beautiful autumn foliage should be in full glory for the trip.<\/p>\n
