UPDATE FROM MOOREDALE CONCERTS<\/del><\/h1>\n

Mooredale Concerts<\/span><\/a> continues to honour Canada\u2019s 150th birthday for 2017-18 by presenting some of this country\u2019s best artists. We begin and end our season with fascinating Canadian ensembles \u2013 the more traditional principal players from our very own TSO and the exotic acoustic guitar group, Forestare, from Quebec. In between, there is plenty of excitement with string quartets, a violin and piano duo, and the return of Piano Dialogue with two pianos and two great pianists.<\/p>\n

Under the artistic direction of pianist Wonny Song, Mooredale Concerts continues to showcase leading and emerging Canadian and international artists, performing both classical music standards as well as lesser staged works that span from the Baroque to the 20th century.<\/p>\n

Concerts take place at Walter Hall in the Edward Johnson Building, University of Toronto, 80 Queen\u2019s Park (Museum subway), Sundays at 3:15 p.m. The 492-seat theatre, especially designed for chamber music\/soloists, allows patrons to truly experience the artistry up close. You will sit no further back than 14 rows in a venue with admirable acoustics.<\/p>\n

Subscriptions are available for all six concerts, for only $140 adults, $130 seniors, and $90 for under age 30 \u2013 offering up to 47% in savings over single tickets.<\/p>\n

MUSIC & TRUFFLES \u2013 Classical Music for Family Enjoyment<\/strong><\/span>
\nThis one-hour Series – performances for children ages 6-11 plus their parents, grandparents, and friends \u2013 begins its 15th season on October 29, with a Halloween-themed show. Subscriptions are only $75 for all five shows, and include a wrapped Lindt chocolate truffle for everyone at the end. These shows use the same artists as our main stage concerts, in a more relaxed and fun atmosphere, where artists show off their musical and comedic talents. Shows take place two hours before the main stage performance from 1:15-2:15pm at Walter Hall. Sweet!<\/p>\n

September 24, 2017 \u2013 TSO Chamber Soloists<\/strong> <\/span>
\nCurated by Concertmaster Jonathan Crow<\/strong>, the Chamber Soloists will consist of TSO principals Teng Li<\/strong>, viola; Joseph Johnson<\/strong>, cello; Jeffrey Beecher<\/strong>, bass; Michael Sweeney<\/strong>, bassoon; and Neil Deland<\/strong>, horn, who join Crow, along with clarinetist Miles Jacques<\/strong>, to perform an eclectic program: String Trio by Jean Fran\u00e7aix; Serenata in vano, CNW69<\/em>\u00a0by Carl Nielsen; Till Eulenspiegel einmal anders!<\/em> by Richard Strauss; and Beethoven\u2019s beloved Septet in E flat Major, Op. 20.<\/p>\n

October 29, 2017 \u2013 Jasper String Quartet<\/strong> <\/span>
\nNamed after the Canadian national park where they spent time performing outdoors, the Philadelphia-based Jasper String Quartet has scaled the musical peaks, winning the prestigious CMA (Chamber Music America) Cleveland Quartet Award and other chamber music competitions. In its Mooredale Concerts debut, the ensemble will perform Mozart\u2019s String Quartet in G Major, K. 387, Prokofiev\u2019s String Quartet No. 12 in F Major, and Beethoven\u2019s String Quartet in B-flat major, Op. 130 with the original Grosse Fugue Op. 133 ending.<\/p>\n

November 26, 2017 \u2013 Rebelheart Collective with Mai Tategami, violin<\/strong><\/span>
\nThree highly accomplished Canadian players based in London ON \u2013 violinist Scott St. John<\/strong>, violist Sharon Wei<\/strong>, and cellist Thomas Wiebe<\/strong> have joined forces with Toronto-based violinist Erika Raum<\/strong> to give back to the community and help train the next generation of classical musicians. They will perform Haydn\u2019s String Quartet Op. 33, No. 2 (“The Joke”), Dvor\u00e1k\u2019s String Quartet in F Major, Op. 96 (“American”), and Mendelssohn\u2019s String Quintet in B-flat Major, Op. 87 with violinist Mai Tategami,<\/strong> 2016 winner of the Orford Music competition and currently a first violinist at the Beethoven Orchester in Bonn.<\/p>\n
