{"id":4634,"date":"2012-06-19T10:43:40","date_gmt":"2012-06-19T15:43:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/?p=4634"},"modified":"2012-06-19T10:43:40","modified_gmt":"2012-06-19T15:43:40","slug":"friday-programme-confirmed-for-toronto-beethoven-pop-up-concert-at-heliconian-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/2012\/06\/19\/friday-programme-confirmed-for-toronto-beethoven-pop-up-concert-at-heliconian-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday: Programme confirmed for Toronto Beethoven pop-up concert at Heliconian Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To add real local musicmaking to the promotional spin around today&#8217;s release of a compendium album in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beethoven-for-all.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Beethoven for All<\/em><\/a>, an all-Ludwig van Beethoven recording project being led by conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim, Universal Music Canada has organized a pop-up concert featuring a mix of Toronto amateurs and professionals at Heliconian Hall on Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Besides performing for a live audience at the intimate venue, the musicians&#8217; work will also be streamed live on the Web.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a salon-like programme with a mix of the light and substantial, mostly focused on the piano. I think it&#8217;s a wonderful way to highlight even a tiny slice of the rich community musicmaking that&#8217;s part of life in Toronto. I intend to be there to cheer everyone on.<\/p>\n<p>Universal spokesperson Thom McKercher, the organizer of Friday&#8217;s concert, is so enthusiastic about this little bit of community involvement that he will start the programme off himself at the hall&#8217;s nice Steinway grand piano with the &#8220;Adagio cantabile&#8221; movement from Beethoven&#8217;s <em>&#8220;Path\u00e9tique&#8221; Sonata<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The youngest participant is 6-year-old Patrick Vidrih, who will play <em>Turkish March<\/em>. There are several much more advanced performers, as well as the recently formed Riverdale String Quartet and professional pianist Oleg Samokhin.<\/p>\n<p>Besides McKercher and Vidrih, here is the rest of the programme:<br \/>\nCarrie Zheng, &#8220;Rondo&#8221; from <em>Sonatina<\/em> in F Major<br \/>\nAanika Roy, F<em>\u00fcr Elise<\/em><br \/>\nErick Oliver Wawrzkiewicz (violin) and Jennifer Liu (piano), &#8220;Allegro con brio&#8221; from <em>Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 7<\/em> in C Minor, op. 30, No. 2<br \/>\nOlivier Rabu, &#8220;Allegro ma non troppo&#8221; from <em>Sonata No. 20<\/em> in G Major, op. 49, No. 2<br \/>\nEmily Mende, <em>Sonatina<\/em> in F Major<br \/>\nJohn Holland (baritone) and William Shookhoff (piano), <em>An die ferne Geliebte<\/em>, op. 98<br \/>\nZhao Lin, Grave, &#8220;Allegro di molto e con brio&#8221; from <em>Piano Sonata No. 8<\/em> in C Minor, op. 13 \u201cPath\u00e9tique\u201d<br \/>\nThe Riverdale String Quartet &#8212; Amilia Cervantes and Levi Falk, violins, Danielle Couto, viola, and cellist Brendon Lam &#8212; <em>String Quartet No. 1<\/em> in F Major, op. 18.
