For voice fans, they can look forward to an interesting program combining international stars with home-grown Canadian talent. Here\u2019s a list of not-to-be-missed vocal concerts:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday July 14, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Walter Hall<\/strong>. The veteran American collaborative pianist <strong>Martin Katz<\/strong> makes a welcome return to TSMF as a mentor in the Art of Song program. In this public masterclass, Katz will put several of the Song fellows through their paces. He has had a career spanning nearly five decades. I\u2019ll never forget two recitals I attended in the early \u201870s of the great Renata Tebaldi with Katz at the piano.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday July 15, 1 p.m. Walter Hall.\u00a0<\/strong> Eight singers and four pianists, fellows of the Art of the Song Academy, show off their talent and artistry in the <strong>Art Song reGeneration Recital 1<\/strong>, under the tutelage of their mentors, soprano Soile Isokoski, pianist Martin Katz, and pianist Steven Philcox.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday July 18, 7:30 p.m. Walter Hall.<\/strong> The wonderful Finnish soprano <strong>Soile Isokoski<\/strong> returns to TSMF as a mentor, and this time she\u2019s singing! On the program are songs by Wolf, Strauss, and Sibelius. I\u2019ve heard her on many occasions over the past twenty years, in opera and song. Her musicality, simplicity, and sincerity have always moved me. Now that she has retired from opera, she continues to give concerts and teach, philosophies for which she shared in an <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/2015\/07\/16\/profile-soile-isokoski-the-artist-as-teacher\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview with Musical Toronto<\/a><\/span>. This is a concert not to be missed!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday July 20, 5 p.m. Heliconian Hall.<\/strong> Young Canadian singers\u2014soprano <strong>Lauren Margison <\/strong>and\u00a0baritones\u00a0<strong>Samuel Chan<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Nathan Keoughan\u2014<\/strong>join veteran pianist\/songwriter <strong>David Warrack<\/strong> in <em>Opera to Broadway<\/em>, a program of music from opera and musical theatre. Presented by Highlands Opera Studio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday July 22, \u00a01 p.m. Walter Hall.\u00a0<\/strong>This is the <strong>Art Song reGeneration Recital 2<\/strong>, with the Fellows strutting their stuff after another week of mentoring from their teachers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday July 23, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Walter Hall<\/strong>. Finnish soprano <strong>Soile Isokoski<\/strong> passes the torch to the next generation of singers in this masterclass. Mezzo and CBC broadcaster <strong>Julie Nesrallah<\/strong> will host (and sing!) in <em>An Afternoon at the Opera<\/em>. She is joined by COC Ensemble soprano <strong>Danika Lor<\/strong><strong>\u00e8n<\/strong> and pianist <strong>Robert Kortgaard<\/strong>. The centrepiece of this concert will be selections from Bizet\u2019s <em>Carmen<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday July 27, 7:30 p.m. Koerner Hall<\/strong>. <em>A Night at the Opera<\/em> brings together young and veteran opera singers in selections of arias by Mozart, Puccini, and Verdi. You\u2019ll hear soprano <strong>Danika Lor<\/strong><strong>\u00e8n<\/strong>, mezzo <strong>Julie Nesrallah<\/strong>, tenor <strong>Roger Honeywell<\/strong>, and bass <strong>Gary Relyea<\/strong>, with violinist <strong>Nikki Chooi<\/strong> and pianist <strong>Robert Kortgaard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday August 4, 7:00 p.m. Koerner Hall<\/strong>. <em>Last Night of the Festival, Eh!<\/em>\u00a0This is of course a spinoff on the famous <em>Last Night of the Proms<\/em>, with a Canadian twist. <strong>Boris Brott<\/strong> conducts the <strong>National Academy Orchestra of Canada<\/strong>. He\u2019s joined by mezzo <strong>Emily D\u2019Angelo<\/strong> and violinist <strong>Kerson Leong<\/strong>\u00a0in a program of typical Proms favourites. I can\u2019t say for sure, but my guess is it\u2019s a TSMF first\u2014a piece where audience members will taste four small pieces of chocolate while listening to four short movements by Quebec composer Maxime Goulet in his delectable <em>Symphonic Chocolates<\/em>. How fun is that?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday August 4, 10:30 p.m. Koerner Hall<\/strong>. <em>Late Night Encore<\/em>.
