They pick and choose. The minimum response is 20 answers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After moving to Toronto in 2014,\u00a0 tenor Asitha Tennekoon has quickly established himself as an important figure in Toronto\u2019s opera scene. His most recent breakout performance was in Tapestry Opera\u2019s <em>Rocking Horse Winner<\/em>. Other credits include performances with Stratford Summer Music Festival, The Indian River Festival, MY Opera, and Bicycle Opera Project.<\/p>\n<p>You can hear Tennekoon perform as Harry Benn in <em>The Boatswain\u2019s Mate<\/em> by Toronto\u2019s Opera Five running <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/opera-5-suffragette\/2017-06-22\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">June 22-25<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u2014\u2014\u2014\u2014<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>What are three things about Toronto that make you want to live here?<\/h3>\n<p>The food, not feeling like an outsider even though I just moved here three years ago, patios!<\/p>\n<h3>What are three things that Toronto doesn\u2019t have but should?<\/h3>\n<p>Tropical weather in that Nov-April stretch&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>An ocean and a beach<\/p>\n<p>Better public transport<\/p>\n<h3>Name the musical equivalent to junk food<\/h3>\n<p>Recently for me, that\u2019s been Dancehall music, and regular club dance music. Just get me a filthy beat, and I\u2019m good to go!<\/p>\n<h3>Default drink\/cocktail of choice?<\/h3>\n<p>Red vino is always good company. I\u2019ll have some Hendrick\u2019s after a long week. Starting to experiment with some Scotch now\u2026we\u2019ll see where that goes!<\/p>\n<h3>Name your favourite concert hall\/venue in Toronto<\/h3>\n<p>Koerner Hall so far. It\u2019s a beautiful space, and the acoustics are so good! As one famous Toronto-based conductor said\u2026 &#8220;You can hear a fish fart in there!&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Name your favourite concert hall\/venue anywhere<\/h3>\n<p>The Lionel Wendt Theatre back home in Sri Lanka. It\u2019s a great hall in every way, and also holds a very special place in my heart. I\u2019ve performed there since I was six years old and have so many fond memories, and formative experiences on that stage.<\/p>\n<h3>Your role models?<\/h3>\n<p>More than idolizing any individuals, I prefer to admire and emulate individual characteristics and personality traits.<\/p>\n<h3>Your favourite sound?<\/h3>\n<p>I grew up close to the ocean. Every night as I fell asleep I\u2019d hear the waves roll in and crashing in the distance. That\u2019s still one of my favourite sounds!<\/p>\n<h3>Your least favourite sound?<\/h3>\n<p>Scratchy violins!!<\/p>\n<h3>Your favourite smells?<\/h3>\n<p>Salty ocean air, fresh fruit, garlic, old books, coffee.<\/p>\n<h3>The dumbest thing that you\u2019ve ever done to your hair?<\/h3>\n<p>Shaved it all off. The inability to talk about anything other than themselves and what they\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n<h3>How do you know when you can trust someone?<\/h3>\n<p>Trust your instincts, and be mindful of how they talk about other people who aren\u2019t present.<\/p>\n<h3>What are you the most proud of?<\/h3>\n<p>I managed to trick my nephews and niece into thinking I\u2019m cool!<\/p>\n<h3>What are you the least proud of?<\/h3>\n<p>\u2026not being as cool as my nephews and niece think I am\u2026<\/p>\n<h3>What is the best thing about your work?<\/h3>\n<p>There\u2019s an amazing thrill that comes with creating something together with a bunch of other people. I played it late at night and didn\u2019t realize the volume on the stereo system was on full.
