March 31 to April 2<\/h3>\n<p>Since it opened in 2009, Koerner Hall has attracted many world-class musicians to its stage, in part because of the beauty of its design and superb acoustics and in part, according to Mervon Mehta, because Toronto audiences have a good reputation. \u201cThey really listen in Toronto,\u201d Andras Schiff was quoted as saying to Mehta.\u00a0 Torontonians have reason to be proud of the venue they have created and support, and of the conduct that elite musicians welcome.<\/p>\n<p>But so far, this has not been enough to attract the performer who is described as \u201cthe greatest living pianist\u201d, Martha Argerich.\u00a0 Instead, she recently chose to make an appearance at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance last week, where she attended two masterclasses for six exceptional young pianists, gave a public rehearsal, and a gala concert.<\/p>\n<p>What drew her there, according to one of those six exceptional pianists, U of T Faculty of Music DMA candidate David Potvin, was not the beauty of the venue or the caliber of the audience, but friendship.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_44393\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44393\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-44393 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/04\/Martha_Argerich-lunenberg.jpg\" alt=\"Pianists descend on small town Nova Scotia for a once in a lifetime chance to play for Martha Argerich.
