The Overcoat: An Opera is one of our most exciting projects to date, as it combines Morris’s unique style of physical theatre with a masterful new score by James Rolfe. It’s a great honour to partner with two major pioneers in new Canadian works: Vancouver Opera and Canadian Stage. Together we’ll bring this bold venture to life, spurred along by the original creative team and a tradition of innovation inspired by the 1998, The Overcoat.”

The creative team includes Morris Panych (librettist/director/creator), Wendy Gorling (movement/creator), Ken McDonald (set design), Alan Brodie (lighting design), and Nancy Bryant (costumes).

The production will premiere at the Bluma Appel Theatre during Tapestry Opera and Canadian Stage’s 2017/2018 season in March 2018. It will then be presented by Vancouver Opera as part of its second annual Vancouver Opera Festival.

A year is a long time to wait… but we’ll be there next March, with a full review.

For more CLASSICAL MUSIC NEWS, visit HERE.

#LUDWIGVAN

A major step forward for Tapestry Opera was announced today, with a new partnership with Vancouver Opera and Canadian Stage for a production of a new full-length opera The Overcoat.

[6439,39,43,63
631,4699,9481,5079

https://www.ludwig-van.com/toronto/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/03/The-Overcoat_Photo-Robert-Catto.jpg
