This is not to say we are the provocateurs of taste, but simply seek to provide a good weekly summary. For a look at the full breadth of what\u2019s available in and around Toronto, check out our curated concert listings here: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/\">Musical Toronto Datebook<\/a><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One piece of news that caught my eye is Mozart@261, the annual Mozart celebrations put on by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (Jan 11 \u2013 14), featuring the great pianist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/tso-mozart-261-festival-emanuel-ax-plays-mozart\/2017-01-13\/\">Emanuel Ax<\/a> and others. What makes these concerts extra special this year is the venue \u2014 not the usual Roy Thomson Hall which is a bit cavernous for Mozart, but at the more intimate and acoustically friendlier Koerner Hall. I thought this was a first for the TSO, until their publicist Francine Labelle reminds me that the orchestra played in Koerner back in August 2014, as part of the Toronto Summer Musical Festival. \u00a0American pianist and Van Cliburn Competition laureate Sean Chen makes his Toronto debut (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/sean-chen\/\">Jan. 10<\/a>) in a program of Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, and Ligeti. Windermere String Quartet plays a program of Haydn and Ignace Pleyel, with guest artist soprano Meredith Hall (<a href=\"http:\/\/windermere.braveform.com\/docs\/upcoming.html\">Jan. 15<\/a>). \u00a0Tafelmusik is giving a free concert, <em>The String Orchestra in Baroque Italy<\/em>, featuring musicians from their Winter Institute (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tafelmusik.org\/concert-calendar\">Jan. 11<\/a>). For something a little different, catch the Tony Award-winning musical, <em>The Secret Garden<\/em>, presented in concert with orchestra at Trinity St. Paul\u2019s Centre (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.todocanada.ca\/city\/toronto\/event\/the-secret-garden\/\">Jan. 13\u201315<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Tuesday 10<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Canadian Opera Company<\/span> | Vocal Series: <em>Across the Channel<\/em>, at the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre. Noon. Free!<\/p>\n<p>As part of the COC\u2019s free noon hour Vocal Series, singers from the Rebanks Family Fellowship at the Glenn Gould School give a recital including selections from Canteloube\u2019s <em>Songs of the Auvergne<\/em> and Samuel Barber\u2019s <em>Dover Beach<\/em>, accompanied by a string quartet. Podium Concert Productions presents the Tony Award-winning musical, <em>The Secret Garden<\/em>, in concert for three performances.
