The Right Honourable David Johnston, The Governor General of Canada, has announced 100 new recipients to the Order of Canada.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am delighted to recognize these new recipients of the Order of Canada in this milestone year,\u201d said Johnston. \u201cBesides marking Canada\u2019s 150th<\/span> anniversary, 2017 marks the 50th<\/span> anniversary of the Order. So let\u2019s be inspired by the examples set by these remarkable Canadians and use this occasion to build a smarter and more caring country in which every individual can succeed to the greatest extent possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Russell Braun, O.C., Georgetown, Ontario<\/strong><\/p>\n

For his accomplishments as an internationally renowned opera singer and cultural ambassador for our country.<\/p>\n

Michael Schade, O.C., Oakville, Ontario<\/strong><\/p>\n

For his achievements as a renowned tenor and for his contributions to the world of opera. This is an honorary appointment.<\/p>\n

Howard Leslie Shore, O.C., New York, New York, United States of America and Toronto, Ontario<\/strong><\/p>\n

For his contributions to the film music industry as an internationally celebrated composer and conductor.<\/p>\n

Donna June Bennett, C.M., and Brian Leslie Finley, C.M., Campbellford, Ontario<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Co-founders of Westben Arts Festival Theatre) For their dedication to fostering the performing arts, musical education and community building in rural Ontario.<\/p>\n
