The National Ballet of Canada\u2019s fall season continues with <em>Onegin<\/em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/national-ballet-of-canada-onegin\/2016-11-23\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nov. 23 \u2013 27<\/a>) in the John Cranko production. This is an oldie \u2014 I remember seeing this in the late 80\u2019s with Frank Augustyn. Do note that while the ballet is based on the novel by Pushkin and with a score by Tchaikovsky, there\u2019s not one note of music from his opera, <em>Eugene Onegin.<\/em> Toronto Symphony Orchestra is presenting Dvorak\u2019s <em>Cello Concerto<\/em> with Chinese cellist Jian Wang (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/tso-dvorak-cello-concerto\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nov. 26, 27<\/a>). The fall opera at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music is Offenbach\u2019s spoof of Greek mythology, <em>Orpheus in the Underworld<\/em> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/u-of-t-4\/2016-11-24\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nov. 24 \u2013 27<\/a>) with a surprise maestro &#8211; baritone Russell Braun in his conducting debut! \u00a0Tafelmusik is presenting <em>Close Encounters of the Italian Kind<\/em> at Heliconian Hall (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tafelmusik.org\/concert-calendar\/concert\/close-encounters-italian-kind\" target=\"_blank\">Nov. 25<\/a>) and Temerty Theatre (Dec. 3). Canadian French Horn player James Sommerville gives a masterclass (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/wmct\/\">Nov. 22<\/a>) followed by a recital (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/wmct\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nov. 24<\/a>) under the auspices of Women\u2019s Musical Club of Toronto. Accordion virtuoso Michael Bridge whom I heard at the IAMA conference last week is the soloist with the Greater Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gtpo.ca\/concerts\/161125.php\" target=\"_blank\">Nov. 25<\/a>).
