{"id":392,"date":"2011-12-21T18:03:26","date_gmt":"2011-12-21T23:03:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/?p=392"},"modified":"2011-12-21T18:03:26","modified_gmt":"2011-12-21T23:03:26","slug":"friday-canadas-premier-arctic-fusion-band-ensemble-polaris-does-christmas-its-own-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/2011\/12\/21\/friday-canadas-premier-arctic-fusion-band-ensemble-polaris-does-christmas-its-own-way\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday: &#8216;Canada&#8217;s premier Arctic fusion band&#8217; Ensemble Polaris does Christmas its own way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s amazing what busy musicians can get up to in their free time.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of Toronto&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ensemblepolaris.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ensemble Polaris<\/a>, it has led to four CDs and quite a bit of touring for their adventurous blend of old and new music from countries where the Winter Solstice means several extra hours of darkness.<\/p>\n<p>In the spirit of ensembles old and new, the gang prepares many of its own arrangements, and does a lot of improvising.<\/p>\n<p>They present their own twist on a programme of seasonal music Friday evening at cozy and acoustically friendly Heliconian Hall, in Yorkville.
