Monday, Oct. 10 being Canadian Thanksgiving, all opera and concert venues are dark. But the rest of the week is chockful of events, some very high profile. Two extraordinary pianists, Chinese Yuja Wang<\/a> and Russian Denis Matsuev<\/a>, are in town to dazzle Toronto audiences \u2013 Wang with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in Bartok\u2019s Piano Concerto No.3<\/em>, and Matsuev in a solo recital of Beethoven, Schumann, Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. The COC production of Norma<\/a><\/em> continues, starring the amazing soprano Sondra Radvanovsky, while its second fall production, Handel\u2019s Ariodante<\/em>, opens. Radvanovsky is being honoured with the \u201cRubies\u201d (Opera Canada Awards<\/a>) on Oct. 12. Canadian tenor Ben Heppner is the MC. Other honourees are film\/opera director Atom Egoyan and Opera de Quebec General Director Gr\u00e9goire Legendre. Other interesting concerts include the Juilliard Quartet<\/a>, bass Dimitry Ivashchenko<\/a>, Amici Chamber Ensemble<\/a>, and Italian pianist-composer Ludovico Einaudi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tuesday 11<\/h3>\n
