If you haven\u2019t seen the COC <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carmen<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, you definitely should. Canadian stage director Joel Ivany gives it a fresh look. And you get your choice of the two very fine casts. \u00a0Two of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carmen<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stars \u2013 mezzo Cl\u00e9mentine Margaine and tenor Russell Thomas \u2013 are giving free noon hour concerts at the opera house, and Welsh baritone Bryn Terfel makes one of his infrequent visits to Toronto for a recital at Koerner Hall.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Wednesday 20<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">COC<\/span>\u00a0|\u00a0Georges Bizet\u2019s Carmen at The Four Seasons Centre. 7:30 p.m. $55-435 (Repeats\u00a0April 20 to May 15. Start times vary)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">April 20 and 23 The spring season of the Canadian Opera Company continues with its first production, Bizet\u2019s Carmen. \u00a0I attended the opening, and I\u2019m happy to report that it\u2019s a terrific show. The principals are double cast &#8211; with mezzo Cl\u00e9mentine Margaine\/Anita Rachvelishvili* (Carmen), David Pomeroy\/Russell Thomas* (Don Jose), Karine Boucher\/Simone Osborne* (Micaela) and Zachary Nelson\/Christian Van Horn* (Escamillo).
