Elinor Frey’s Berlin Sonatas Nominated for Classical Album of the Year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Announced this morning at a press conference in Calgary, at 11 a.m. EST, the 2016 JUNO Award Nominees have been released. Each nominee will participate in the 2016 JUNO Awards and JUNO Week celebrations over March 28-April 3. The awards will be broadcast Live on CTV from The Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday, April 3, 2016.<\/p>\n

Nominees include two different CD\u2019s with Violinist James Ehnes<\/strong>. Album of the year nominees\u00a0includes Angela Hewitt<\/strong>‘s Liszt Piano Sonata & Sonnets, and Berlin Sonatas by Montreal-based cellist Elinor Frey<\/strong>, as well as RCM’s ensemble-in-residence ARC Ensemble<\/strong>, Toronto’s\u00a0Cecilia String Quartet\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>and\u00a0Stewart Goodyear<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Composition nominees include\u00a0Dinuk Wijeratne<\/strong> and\u00a0<\/span>new Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s RBC Affiliate Composer Jordan Pal<\/strong>. Montrealers Nicole Liz\u00e9e<\/strong> and Michael Oesterle,<\/strong> and Ontario’s John Burge<\/strong> also made the list.<\/p>\n

In the vocal category Suzie Leblanc<\/strong>, Claire de S\u00e9vign\u00e9,<\/strong> Maria Soulis,<\/strong> Andrea Ludwig<\/strong>, Charles Daniels,<\/strong> John Potter<\/strong> and Marie-Nicole Lemieux<\/strong> are up for the award.<\/p>\n
