The was invented between 1993 and 1997 by bassist Mark Deutsch and was patented in 1999. There is only one in the world, but would work very well an early music ensemble\u00a0as part of a basso continuo section, or as part of an Indian classical music ensemble. Deutsch was inspired by the resonant nature of Indian music \u2013 especially it&#8217;s use of the overtone series.
