Rickman was a close friend of the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Canada\u2019s former Governor General. She suggested his suave bass voice would\u00a0make him an ideal speaker for the event. The Foundation agreed and invited him to participate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Alan\u2019s delivery of Leonard Cohen\u2019s verses was one of the highlights of what proved to be a very special evening indeed, &#8221; The Foundation <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glenngould.ca\/remembering-alan-rickman-1946-2016-2\/\">stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rHdOidYOZWc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>Rickman was later invited to serve as a Glenn Gould Prize juror, but unfortunately had to cancel\u00a0due a scheduling conflict. Despite the cancelation, he kept his connection with The Glenn Gould Foundation, and only just recently narrated\u00a0a promotional video for them. We\u2019re truly saddened that we will not have the chance to share the final results with him, and to thank him properly for his support.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We leave you with a lovely musical moment from the film,\u00a0<em>Truly, Madly, Deeply<\/em>, starring\u00a0Alan Rickman and\u00a0Juliet Stevenson.
