Based on the story from Ovid\u2019s Metamorphoses, \u201cPyramus and Thisbe\u201d is described in terms of nature by composer Barbara Monk Feldman, \u201c\u2026the quality of the light is always subtly varying, and as a painter friend of mine said, she tries to capture the feeling that something is about to change, and this feeling is what I aim for in the music of Pyramus and Thisbe.\u201d Something different for certain \u2013 come see it for yourself. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/coc-pyramus-and-thisbe-2\/\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">I Furiosi |<\/span> <em>Game of Thrones<\/em> at the Calvin Presbyterian Church. 8:00 p.m. $10-20<\/p>\n<p>I Furiosi Baroque Ensemble launch their season with an invasion stirred by the intense revolving HBO series drama, \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d. The concert features guest harpsichordist Christopher Bagan. You\u2019ll hear works by Tallis and Vaughan Williams. Stick around after the concert for the CD launch of their new CD,\u00a0<em>Winter Nights<\/em>. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/gloucester-cathedral-choir\/\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Kindred Spirits Orchestra Markham |<\/span> <em>Symphonie Fantastique <\/em>at Flato Markham Theatre. 8:00 p.m. $15-30<\/p>\n<p>Kindred Spirits Orchestra Markham takes the stage to perform a nicely rounded program including Franck\u2019s \u201cLe Chasseur Maudit\u201d, Beethoven\u2019s Piano Concerto No.1 in C, Op.15, and Berlioz\u2019s &#8220;Symphonie fantastique&#8221;. Features pianist Anson Hui and conductor Kristian Alexander with host Alexa Petrenko (The New Classical FM). Also on the bill are the always stunning The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir with soprano Erin Wall, and baritone Russell Braun. She returns to Toronto for one night only to perform works including Schumann, Bach, Schubert and the Canadian premiere of Philip\u00a0Lasser\u2019s Breughel Suite. Includes Uyeda\u2019s &#8220;The Sex Lives of Vegetables&#8221; and Jordahl&#8217;s &#8220;Verses from Ogden Nash&#8221;. He joins guest conductor John Storg\u00e5rds and the TSO for a performance of Sibelius\u2019 Symphony No. 2, Nielsen\u2019s Helios Overture, and Bart\u00f3k\u2019s Violin Concerto No.1. Schmid is known for an impressively agile and dynamic tone. Premieres include works by Michael Oesterle and Andrew Staniland plus new arrangements of works by Tim Brady and John Psathas.
