Canadian Charles Richard-Hamelin wins second prize and\u00a0third prize to American pianist Kate Liu.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth prize is awarded to Eric Lu (USA),\u00a0and Toronto-based pianist Tony Yike\u00a0Yang takes a fifth prize. The sixth prize is awarded to Dmitry Shishkin (Russia).<\/p>\n<p>Charles Richard-Hamelin was also awarded\u00a0the Krystian Zimerman Prize for best performance of a sonata for a total cash prize of $51,605 CAN.<\/p>\n<p>Honorable Mentions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aljo\u0161a Jurini\u0107\u00a0(4000 \u20ac)<\/li>\n<li>Aimi Kobayashi\u00a0(4000 \u20ac)<\/li>\n<li>Szymon Nehring\u00a0(4000 \u20ac)<\/li>\n<li>Georgijs Osokins (4000 \u20ac)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Special Prizes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fryderyk Chopin Society Prize for best performance of a polonaise: Seong-Jin Cho (3 000 \u20ac)<\/li>\n<li>Polish Radio Prize for best performance of mazurkas: Kate Liu (5 000 \u20ac)<\/li>\n<li>Krystian Zimerman Prize for best performance of a sonata: Charles Richard-Hamelin\u00a0(10 000 \u20ac)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Chopin competition is deemed to be one of the world&#8217;s most esteemed piano contests and establishes winners with international touring careers.
