While designed for young people ages 6 to 11, Music &amp; Truffles is also a great series for adults wanting to have a briefer and more interactive exposure to classical music. Emcee \u201cJoanna\u201d has come on board to encourage audience interaction.<\/p>\n<p>Concerts take place Sundays, 1:15 p.m., between November 1, 2015 and April 17, 2016, in Walter Hall, in the Edward Johnson Building, University of Toronto, 80 Queen\u2019s Park Crescent (Museum subway). Individual tickets are only $13, but subscriptions offer a generous saving, at only $50 for all five concerts. Both multiple prize winners, and starting out on international solo careers, Nikki and Timothy will inspire their young audience with music by Prokofiev, Saint-Sa\u00ebns and Spain\u2019s Pablo de Sarasate, accompanied by pianist <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rcmusic.ca\/jeanie-chung\" target=\"_blank\">Jeanie Chung<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSoloist Nikki Chooi made it the musical equivalent of a book that you can&#8217;t put down\u201d \u2013 <\/em>New Zealand Herald; \u201c<em>Vigorous, colorful\u201d <\/em>\u2013 New York Times<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTimothy Chooi\u2019s&#8230;performance was electrifying&#8230;intuitive passion far beyond his years and with breathtaking technical virtuosity\u201d<\/em> \u2013 <em>Casa Magazine<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>December 13, 2015 \u2013 Calmus Ensemble, European Vocal Quintet<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Songbirds from Leipzig, Germany, the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/calmus.de\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Calmus Ensemble<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0makes its Canadian debut with music from its 2015 CD, <em>Christmas Carols of the World<\/em>; a lovely blend of sound, precision, lightness and wit for the holiday season. They will sing works from the Renaissance to 20<sup>th<\/sup> Century, composed in England, Belgium, Ireland, France, Sweden, Puerto Rico, and more. And a great opportunity to experience operatic and a capella singing techniques.<\/p>\n<p><em> \u201cCalmus Ensemble is stunning in its vocal variety, mastery. The group held the audience\u2026spellbound with its artistry.\u201d \u2013 <\/em>The Washington Post<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>January 17, 2016 \u2013 London Haydn Quartet with Eric Hoeprich, clarinet<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Considered by many to be \u201csupreme\u201d, England\u2019s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/londonhaydnquartet.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">London Haydn Quartet<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0performs Mozart\u2019s <em>Clarinet Quintet in A, K. 581;<\/em> and Haydn of course!\u00a0\u00a0 Joining the quartet is its frequent collaborator, period clarinetist <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/info.music.indiana.edu\/faculty\/adjunct\/hoeprich-eric.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Eric Hoeprich<\/a><\/strong>, with whom the ensemble has performed in the U.S. and Europe, and recorded the Brahms and Mozart quintets on the Glossa label.<\/p>\n<p><em> \u201c\u2026they explore&#8230;repertoire with a light touch and kaleidoscopic colours&#8230;crammed with subtle pleasures.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 CD Review, The Times<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>March 13, 2016 \u2013 Ensemble MidtVest<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With 7 players and a piano on stage, too, Denmark\u2019s young <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ensemblemidtvest\" target=\"_blank\">Ensemble MidtVest<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>makes its Canadian debut. The ensemble is renowned for creative programming and pushing the boundaries of traditional classical concert form. The players will enthrall its Toronto audience with excerpts of rare and treasured wind and piano chamber works by Schubert, Brahms, and Denmark\u2019s Carl Nielsen.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c&#8230;You felt as though you\u2019d been on a journey that transformed the material even as you revisited it&#8230;<\/em><em>\u201d<\/em><em> \u2013 <\/em>New York Times<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>April 17, 2016 \u2013 Afiara String Quartet with Joel Quarrington, bass<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two internationally renowned Canadian music forces unite to conclude the season.
