Air Canada has responded to pressure from the musical community for a \u00a0new well-defined policy that better accommodates the thousands of professional musicians traveling to and from Canada.<\/p>\n
According to the press release, the new policy \u201censures items which meet our carry-on size requirements * can be brought on board and stored in the overhead bins or under the seat in front of you\u201d.<\/p>\n
They will also offer a special 50% discount fare for those who must purchase a seat for larger instruments such as cellos double basses.<\/p>\n
Musicians with instruments will also be included in pre-boarding announcements, giving them more time to stow their instruments.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe take every care when transporting all of our customers\u2019 belongings. But please remember that, because of their fragile nature, musical instruments should always be properly packaged in a rigid and\/or hard shell container. This is especially important in the event that your musical instrument needs to be checked at the gate if it is not possible to accommodate it on board because of passenger loads, aircraft limitations or insufficient storage space.\u201d<\/p>\n
