For a look at the full breadth of what\u2019s available in and around Toronto, check out the comprehensive concert listings from our friends at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholenote.com\/index.php\/listings\/concertsgta\">Wholenote Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Wednesday 3<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Against The Grain Theatre |<\/span> <em>Death&amp;Desire<\/em> at the Neubacher Shor Contemporary. 8:00 p.m. $35-70 (Repeats June 2, 4, and 5).<\/p>\n<p>Against The Grain Theatre is back with another groundbreaking production that is sure to get everyone talking. <em>Death&amp;Desire<\/em> is an intimate double-bill that pairs two of Canada\u2019s most enchanting vocal talents \u2014 bass-baritone Stephen Hegedus and mezzo-soprano Krisztina Szab\u00f3 with two song cycles by Franz Schubert (Die sch\u00f6ne M\u00fcllerin) and Olivier Messiaen (Harawi). Novel as ever, the two texts have been mashed-up into a single theatrical production. If you were to see only one show this week, this should be it. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/death-desire-atgdeathdesire\/\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Thursday 4<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Toronto Symphony Orchestra |<\/span> <em>All-American<\/em> at Roy Thomson Hall. 2:00 p.m. $29-105 (Repeats June 6-7).<\/p>\n<p>The TSO show some love for American music with a program featuring John Adams\u2019 <em>Short Ride in a Fast Machine<\/em>; Barber\u2019s Symphony No.1; Andr\u00e9 Previn\u2019s Double Concerto for Violin and Violoncello (Canadian premi\u00e8re\/TSO co-commission); and Gershwin\u2019s <em>An American in Paris<\/em>. Soloists include the amazing Jaime Laredo (violin), and Toronto\u2019s own Sharon Robinson (cello), with Peter Oundjian behind the conductor\u2019s podium. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/death-desire-atgdeathdesire\/\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Friday 5<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">East-Meets-West Duo |<\/span> at Musideum. 8:00 p.m. $15-20<\/p>\n<p>You may not have heard of East-Meets-West Duo: \u00a0Shahriyar Jamshidi (kamanche) and Raphael Weinroth-Browne (cello), but you should. They perform improvised concerts that blend musical genre, and by extension, culture. Jamshidi is a Toronto-based Kurdish performer who plays a Kamanche \u2013 an Iranian bowed string instrument. Raphael Weinroth-Browne is a cellist that defies the limits of the instrument in surprising and astonishing ways. You can see a video of them playing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BbEPSADj3NU\">here<\/a>. They\u2019ll be taking the stage at Musideum this Friday, for a show well worth seeing. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/east-meets-west\/\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Saturday 6<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">I FURIOSI Baroque Ensemble |<\/span> <em>All About Me<\/em> at Calvin Presbyterian Church. 8:00 p.m. $10-20<\/p>\n<p>Toronto\u2019s hippest period ensemble performs some baroque navel-gazing music tonight with guest performers Rufus M\u00fcller (tenor) and James Johnstone (organ). You\u2019ll hear works by Handel, Tartini, Bermudo and others. This marks I FURIOSI\u2019s final concert of the season \u2013 don\u2019t miss it. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/all-about-me\/\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Sunday 7<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Off Centre Music Salon |<\/span> <em>20th Anniversary Gala<\/em> at Glenn Gould Studio. 2:00 p.m. $15-75<\/p>\n<p>Off Centre Music Salon will be celebrating their 20<sup>th<\/sup> birthday will a very special Gala at Glenn Gould Studio (with Champagne!) The guest artists list reads like a who\u2019s who of Canadian treasures: Isabel Bayrakdarian, Russell Braun, Krisztina Szab\u00f3 , Nathalie Paulin, Norine Burgess, Joni Henson, Jeffrey Hill, Elina Kelebeev, Joseph Macerollo, Carolyn Maule, Christopher Mokrzewski, Jimmy Roberts, Lauren Segal, Alexander Sevastian, James Westman, Monica Whicher and Ilana Zarankin among many others. Master of Ceremonies will be Dr. David Goldbloom. Music Mondays is a great way to hear some amazing music set in the beautiful space of The Church of the Holy Trinity at 10 Trinity Square, downtown.
