For a look at the full breadth of what\u2019s available in and around Toronto, check out the comprehensive concert listings from our friends at <a href=\"http:\/\/wvw.thewholenote.com\/index.php\/listings\/concertsgta\" target=\"_blank\">Wholenote Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Tuesday 12<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Talisker Players |<\/span> Heroes, Gods and Mortals: encounters with Olympian gods and goddesses, in various guises at Trinity-St. Paul&#8217;s Centre. 8:00 p.m. $15-35 (repeats May 13)<\/p>\n<p>There is something deeply universal about classical Greek and Roman mythology \u2013 especially when told though music, the most universal of all art forms.\u00a0Tonight the Talisker Players encounter the Olympic gods and goddesses with readings from Greek myths, poetry (Keats and Tennyson), as well as excerpts from contemporary mythology from Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. This marks the close of the Talisker Players\u2019 2014-15 season. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.taliskerplayers.ca\/heroesgodsandmortalsprognotes.html\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Wednesday 13<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Toronto Symphony Orchestra |<\/span> Masterwork Series: Orchestre symphonique de Montr\u00e9al at Roy Thomson Hall. 8:00 p.m. $33-145<\/p>\n<p>The OSM are back in the Big Smoke with pianist Piotr Anderszewski to perform a trio of Mozart, Sibelius and Samy Moussa. This comes off the heels of OSM Music Director Kent Nagano\u2019s concert with Tafelmusik <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/2015\/01\/23\/concert-review-nagano-and-tafelmusik-deliver-beethoven-at-his-best\/\" target=\"_blank\">last January<\/a>, and more recently the TSO\u2019s mini tour which hit Montreal last week. For those who recall, Moussa was also in Toronto two years ago with a project with Esprit orchestra, and caught up with John Terauds <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/2014\/01\/22\/interview-tesprit-orchestra-guest-composer-samy-moussa-hopes-to-do-better-next-time\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. Highly recommended. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/orchestre-symphonique-de-montreal\/\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Thursday 14<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Off Centre Music Salon |<\/span> D\u00e9rang\u00e9: The Party at the Music Gallery. 7:00 p.m. $15-25<\/p>\n<p>A concert program called the \u201cThe Party\u201d says it all. Off Centre Music Salon moves into the Music Gallery this Thursday to party it up with composers Chris Mayo, Shawn Jaeger, Anna Webber and Michael Davidson, with performers Nico Dann (drums), Daniel Fortin (bass), David French (sax), Daniel Lalonde (bass), Ilana Zarankin (soprano), Boris Zarankin (piano) and Alex Samaras (host &amp; singer). The concert is part of the Off Centre Music Salon two-part d\u00e9rang\u00e9 series, which is about the intersection between Canadian contemporary classical music, jazz and folk music. | <a href=\"http:\/\/offcentremusic.com\/derange\/\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Toronto Masque Theatre |<\/span> Les Indes M\u00e9caniques and The Anahtar Project at the Fleck Dance Theatre, Harbourfront Centre. 8:00 p.m. $20-50 (Repeats May 15)<\/p>\n<p>Toronto Masque Theatre will be closing their 11<sup>th<\/sup> season with a double bill of dance and music exploring Eastern reveries. It includes Les Indes M\u00e9caniques, a baroque opera-ballet based on Jean-Phillipe Rameau\u2019s Les Indes Galantes. The Anahtar Project features Juno-award winning composer and performer Andrew Downing performing music inspired by the centuries-old Ottoman \/ Turkish Makam tradition. According to the website, \u201cThe evening will feature two fascinating but wildly different artistic depictions of Istanbul, the breathtakingly beautiful city that is also the gateway between East and West.\u201d | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torontomasquetheatre.com\/node\/42\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Friday 15<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Opera by Request |<\/span> Verdi: Luisa Miller at College Street United Church. 7:30 p.m. $20<\/p>\n<p>Opera by Request presents Verdi\u2019s Luisa Miller, in concert with piano accompaniment. This work sets the play <em>Kabale und Liebe<\/em> (Intrigue and Love) by the German dramatist Friedrich von Schiller, and marks\u00a0the start of Verdi\u2019s middle period. This homemade production features soprano Naomi Eberhard as Luisa, baritone John Conlon as Miller, tenor Paul Williamson as Rodolfo, and baritone Andrew Tees as Walter plus others. Well worth the $20 ticket. | <a href=\"http:\/\/operabyrequest.ca\/wordpress\/\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Toronto Symphony Orchestra |<\/span> What Makes It Great? at Roy Thomson Hall. 7:30 p.m. $29-79<\/p>\n<p>Schubert\u2019s \u201cUnfinished Symphony\u201d is undoubtedly a masterpiece of the symphonic repertoire, yet Schubert abandoned it six years before he died. We&#8217;ll probably never know why, but tonight the TSO and conductor-host Rob Kapilow will look into how the romantic work became the great haunting masterwork of today. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tso.ca\/en-ca\/concerts-and-tickets\/2014-2015-Season\/EventDetails\/What-Makes-It-Great-Schubert-Unfinished-Symphony.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Royal Conservatory |<\/span> James Ehnes at Koerner Hall. 8:00 p.m. $35-85<\/p>\n<p>One of the finest violinists in the world, James Ehnes, joins pianist Andrew Armstrong for a program of works by Debussy, Bach and Elgar at Koerner Hall. A special treat will be the premiere of <em>Beyond Time<\/em> by Toronto\u2019s Alexina Louie<em>. <\/em>Don\u2019t miss it. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/james-ehnes-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Saturday 16<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Kindred Spirits Orchestra |<\/span> Elgar\u2019s Cello Concerto at Flato Markham Theatre. 8:00 p.m. $15-35<\/p>\n<p>Kristian Alexander leads the\u00a0Kindred Spirits Orchestra through a\u00a0program featuring Mendelssohn\u2019s <em>Hebrides Overture<\/em>, Elgar\u2019s Concerto for cello and orchestra, (with soloist Jun Kyu Park) and Schumann\u2019s Symphony No. 4.Classical 96.3 FM&#8217;s Alexa Petrenko will host. The passion starts with Mozart&#8217;s Oboe Quartet and Britten&#8217;s Phantasy Quartet. Things heat up with string trios of Lennox Berkeley and Ernst von Dohn\u00e1nyi. Includes guest oboist Sarah Jeffrey. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brownpapertickets.com\/event\/1555936\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Monday 18<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Music Mondays |<\/span> Lark Quartet at Church of the Holy Trinity. 12:15 p.m. PWYC<\/p>\n<p>Got the Monday blues? Why not come check out one of the best lunchtime concert series in Toronto at the Church of the Holy Trinity. Music Mondays presents the\u00a0Lark Quartet and special guest flutist Les Allt. Works include the Flute Quartet in D major, K285, by Mozart and Three Quartets: Oblivion, Escualo, and Libertango by Astor Piazzolla.
