Pianist Valentina Lisitsa, will only play one show in Toronto (Oakville) on May 8th, 2015.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We\u2019ve been hearing from a number of sources that Valentina Lisitsa\u2019s upcoming May 8-9 performances in Oakville have been cancelled due to low ticket-sales. We can confirm that this is not true.<\/p>\n

The organisers have decided to merge the two scheduled shows into a single event on Friday, May 8th<\/sup>. The reason given was because of logistical problems involving\u00a0Lisitsa\u2019s travel schedule following the event on May 9th.<\/p>\n

The concert\u00a0organiser Les Holdway, commented, \u201cThe 2 fundraisers agreed to combine efforts on the Friday night as there were going to be logistical issues getting Valentina to the next concert overseas. Obviously we have a very short time span to work within.\u201d<\/p>\n

In regards to\u00a0ticket sales, Holdway stated they are doing \u201cfine.\u201d<\/p>\n

As an acknowledgment for those who will have to switch tickets, the concert will be extending by \u00bd hour.<\/p>\n

Mr. Holdway also said they will be recording the Friday concert with sound and video. \u201cIt will just be recorded for now \u00a0\u2013 but not streamed. The lighting set up for that would have been too time consuming. We will edit it and then decide how we will use it.\u201d<\/p>\n

They have also confirmed Steinway Toronto<\/a> have donated a grand piano for use during the event.<\/p>\n

Beethoven Sonata Op 31#2 “Tempest”<\/strong>
\n Chopin 7 Etudes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Intermission<\/strong><\/p>\n

Liszt Sonata B minor\u00a0<\/strong>
\n Bach-Busoni Chaconne<\/strong><\/p>\n

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the\u00a0Noah\u2019s Ark Wetlands Foundation<\/a> and the Canadian Journalists Defence Fund.<\/p>\n

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Friday May 8th<\/sup>. The Meeting House<\/a>, 2700 Bristol Cir, Oakville, ON.<\/p>\n
