They will be performing Tensen\u2019s \u2018Anthems for the Earth\u2019 \u2013 an illustrated songbook for children\u2019s choir, piano and percussion. Why not head over to the beautiful Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre to hear American pianist Erik Lawrence tackle Brahms\u2019 baroque inspired Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel<\/em>, and Bach\u2019s Dance Suite (Partita No. 6 in E Minor, BWV 830). They’ll\u00a0be playing a\u00a0selection of instrumental pieces from the 16th and 17th centuries with violinist Kathleen Kajioka and harpsichordist Christopher Bagan. You\u2019ll see the animated Pegasus babies learning to fly set to Beethoven\u2019s 6th<\/sup> \u201cPastoral\u201d Symphony, and Mickey Mouse in Dukas\u2019 The Sorcerer\u2019s Apprentice, plus more. (Repeats April 25, 26)<\/p>\n Now in their fifth year, the Metro Youth Opera are all about giving Toronto\u2019s next generation of opera singers a chance to perform complete roles and actually be compensated for it. This week, they bring Berlioz\u2019s B\u00e9atrice & B\u00e9n\u00e9dict, <\/em>an opera based on Shakespeare\u2019s Much Ado About Nothing. The cast looks great, with Simone McIntosh as B\u00e9atrice; Asitha Tennekoon as B\u00e9n\u00e9dict; Lindsay McIntyre as H\u00e9ro; Alessia Naccarato as Ursule; and Janaka Welihinda as Claudio. | DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain |<\/span> Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin, conductor at Koerner Hall. 8:00 p.m. $50-125<\/p>\n One of the world\u2019s most talked about conductors, Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin will make a rare stop in Toronto to head the Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain in a program of all-English composers: Elgar\u2019s Enigma Variations Op.36; Cello Concerto in e Op.85; Vaughan Williams\u2019 Symphony No.4. Performing the concerto is Montreal-based cello prodigy St\u00e9phane T\u00e9treault.
