Tonight will be their biggest show to date, with premieres by Nathaniel J.S. Barnes, Kevin Lau, Aura Pon and William Rowson. Come out and show your support for this great new ensemble. | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicgallery.org\/hogtown-roundup-the-music-of-toronto\/\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Tuesday 14<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Sheridan College Canadian Music Theatre Project |<\/span> at Sheridan College (Oakville). 7:00 p.m. $35 (Runs Apr 14 \u2013 May 3)<\/p>\n<p>While Oakville makes plans turn the old\u00a0Brantwood Public\u00a0school into residential properties, Sheridan College\u2019s theatre department have temporarily taken over the building\u00a0to stage an ambitious immersive musical production called, <em>Brantwood 1920-2020<\/em>. The three-hour show comprises over 15 hours of material, and will be the largest production of site-specific musical theatre in Canadian history. Highly recommended. | <a href=\"https:\/\/tickets.sheridancollege.ca\/TheatreManager\/1\/login&amp;event=0\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Opera Atelier: <em>Orpheus and Eurydice <\/em>|<\/span> at the Elgin Theatre. 7:30 p.m. $38-181 (Runs Apr 9\u2013 12, dates and start times vary)<\/p>\n<p>Opera Atelier returns this season to present Gluck\u2019s <em>Orpheus and Eurydice:<\/em> an opera based on the myth of Orpheus, with libretto by Ranieri de&#8217; Calzabigi. Tafelmusik (conducted by David Fallis) will be playing a mid-nineteenth century orchestration by Berlioz, which rounds out the two previously mounted Italian and French versions performed by Atelier. They have also included some of the original ornamentations sung by Pauline Viardot found in her privately owned piano-vocal score.\u00a0Cast includes mezzo Mireille Lebel as \u201cOrpheus\u201d, soprano Peggy Kriha Dye as \u201cEurydice\u201d, soprano Meghan Lindsay as \u201cAmour\u201d. Early reviews have been favorable; don\u2019t miss it. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heritagetrust.on.ca\/EWG\/Home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Thursday 16<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Women&#8217;s Musical Club of Toronto: Mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn |<\/span> at Walter Hall, Edward Johnson Building. 1:30 p.m. $45<\/p>\n<p>Mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn\u2019s has performed at\u00a0venues all over the world, including Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es, and Amsterdam\u2019s Concertgebouw. Now Toronto has a chance to hear\u00a0this amazing performer with pianist Julius Drake, for a one-night only performance at Walter Hall. They&#8217;ll be performing works by\u00a0Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Korngold and R. Strauss. For only $45, it\u2019s a steal. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wmct.on.ca\/concert-series\/christianne-stotijn\/\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Music Toronto: Lafayette Quartet |<\/span> at the Jane Mallett Theatre. 8:00 p.m. $10-55<\/p>\n<p>As they approach their historic thirty-year anniversary, The Lafayette Quartet is still going strong. Join them as they take the stage to perform a program of Haydn (Quartet in A, No.28, Op.20, No.6) Jean Coulthard (Quartet No.2, <em>Threnody<\/em>) and Beethoven (Quartet in a, Op.132.). A sure bet. | <a href=\"http:\/\/music-toronto.com\/quartets\/Lafayette.htm\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Soundstreams: Song for Athene |<\/span> at Trinity-St. Paul&#8217;s Centre. 8:00 p.m. $20-67.50<\/p>\n<p>Sir John Tavener\u2019s death in 2013 was a shock that resonated across the music world. Soundstreams&#8217; Lawrence Cherney, a close personal friend of Tavener, first brought him to Toronto in 1995. It was a huge success. Now ten years later, Soundstreams brings Tavener\u2019s memory back with a performance by soprano Patricia Rozario, and the Toronto Children\u2019s Chorus and Choir 21. Also includes works by Vanraj Bhatia, Jonathan Harvey and Christos Hatzis. This powerful concert is not-to-be-missed. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soundstreams.ca\/Song-for-Athene\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Friday 17<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Canadian Opera Company: Barber of Seville |<\/span> at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. 7:30 p.m. $22-424 (Runs Apr 17\u2013 May 22, dates and start times vary)<\/p>\n<p>There is nothing quite like a visit to the Barber. The COC remounts the <em>Barber of Seville<\/em> which opens tonight and runs until May 22. The cast looks very promising, with baritone Joshua Hopkins as Figaro, tenor Alek Shrader as Count Almaviva, and mezzos Serena Malfi or Cecilia Hall as Rosina (depending on which date you attend). Definitely a must for this week. | <a href=\"http:\/\/coc.ca\/PerformancesAndTickets\/1415Season\/BarberOfSeville.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">group of 27 |<\/span> at Trinity-St. Paul&#8217;s Centre. 8:00 p.m. PWYC<\/p>\n<p>Group of 27 unleash <em>Disquiet \u2013\u00a0<\/em>a full-orchestra concert featuring Toronto Symphony orchestra\u2019s principal oboist Sarah Jeffrey.on On the bill is C.P.E Bach\u2019s Symphony Wg 179, Jocelyn Morlock\u2019s <em>Disquiet<\/em>, Mozart\u2019s Oboe Concerto and Haydn\u2019s Symphony 19. A great opportunity\u00a0for fans of \u201cC.P.E Bach\u201d to hear his music live. | <a href=\"http:\/\/groupof27.com\/disquiet\/\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Saturday 18<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Toronto Symphony Orchestra:\u00a0From Swan Lake to Flight of the Bumblebee<\/span>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">|<\/span> at Roy Thomson Hall. 7:30 p.m. $33-93 (Repeats April 19)<\/p>\n<p>After the great swirling controversy surrounding the TSO last week, we cannot forget the music. It continues this week with a series of Russian masterworks by Rimsky-Korsakov, Koussevitzky, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Prokofiev and Shostakovich. Bulgarian\u00a0conductor Rossen Milanov, will be on hand with TSO double-bassist Jeffrey Beecher, performing Koussevitzky\u2019s Double Bass Concerto. | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tso.ca\/en-ca\/concerts-and-tickets\/2014-2015-Season\/EventDetails\/From-Swan-Lake-to-Flight-of-the-Bumblebee.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Professor Bad Trip |<\/span> at The Music Gallery. 8:00 p.m. $15-25<\/p>\n<p>What would classical music on drugs sound like? The late composer Fausto Romitelli had an answer in his beguiling <em>Professor Bad Trip<\/em>. The Music Gallery describes it as \u201cThe Doors meet \u2013 and unapologetically drown out \u2013 Pierre Boulez. \u2026This is a piece hard to perform, difficult to love and impossible to ignore.\u201d Sounds like a trip worth taking. | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.musicgallery.org\/contact-plays-professor-bad-trip-michael-eckerts-large-earth-ensemble\/\" target=\"_blank\">DETAILS<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Sunday 19<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Grimaud |<\/span> at Koerner Hall. 3:00 p.m. $35-85<\/p>\n<p>H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Grimaud is undeniably one of the best\u00a0pianists in the world. She returns\u00a0to Koerner Hall, a favourite of her venues, to perform a program titled <em>Water Music<\/em>. It includes some very interesting works, such as Berio&#8217;s <em>Wasserklavier<\/em>, T\u014dru Takemitsu&#8217;s <em>Rain Tree Sketch II<\/em>, and many others.
