Nathaniel Dett Chorale<\/span> \u2013\u00a0Voices of the Diaspora<\/em> at Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre. 8:00 p.m. $45<\/p>\n Named after Canadian composer and musician\u00a0R. Nathaniel Dett, the Nathaniel Dett Chorale offer an engrossing choral experience with Voices of the Diaspora.<\/em> The project features British composer Michael\u00a0Tippett, famous secular oratorio, A Child of Our Time<\/em>, interspersed with Spirituals between various sections of the work. Well worth braving the cold for. Details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Thin Edge New Music Collective<\/span> \u2013 <\/strong>Raging Against the Machine <\/em>at the Music Gallery. 8:00 p.m. $15-20<\/p>\n Toronto\u2019s Thin Edge New Music Collective and Montreal\u2019s Ensemble Paramirabo join forces for a night of rhythmically driving works including Steve Reich\u2019s pulsing Double Sextet<\/em>, Louis Andriessen\u2019s classic Worker\u2019s Union<\/em>, and premieres by Patrick Gigu\u00e8re, Brian Harman, and Anna H\u00f6stman. A new music lover\u2019s dream \u2013 don\u2019t miss it. You\u2019ll find all the details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Royal Conservatory<\/span> \u2013\u00a0Sarah Chang, Violin and Julio Elizalde, Piano <\/em>at Koerner Hall. 8:00 p.m. $30-75<\/p>\n Internationally recognized for her impeccable technique and seemingly endless abilities, Sarah Chang will join NYC-based pianist, Julio Elizalde in a program of classics by Brahms, Ravel and Bart\u00f3k. We are told tickets are selling fast so don\u2019t delay. More info here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Toronto Sinfonietta<\/span> \u2013\u00a0A Symphony of Spirit<\/em> at St. Michael’s Centre for the Performing Arts. 7:00 p.m. $10-30<\/p>\n The Toronto Sinfonietta endeavour to brighten up this spell of dreary weather with a concert featuring winners of the Ninth Annual Concerto Competition. \u00a0They will be performing Bruch, Elgar, Grieg, Lalo, Ravel and Rachmaninoff. More info found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Toronto Symphony Orchestra<\/span> \u2013Year of the Sheep: A Chinese New Year Celebration<\/em> at Roy Thomson Hall. 7:30 p.m. $49-229<\/p>\n It\u2019s hard not to get a bit excited when piano superstar Lang Lang and one of the most important conductors in China, Long Yu are in town. In celebration of the Chinese New Year (the year of the Sheep!), they present Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019 Carnival of the Animals narrated in Mandarin and English, but with a surprise twist! Li Huanzhi\u2019s Spring Festival Overture, and Gershwin\u2019s Rhapsody in Blue. Not to be missed. Info here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Chamber Music Society of Mississauga<\/span> \u2013\u00a0An Artist’s Love <\/em>at the Great Hall, Unitarian Congregation of Mississauga. 8:00 p.m. $15-85<\/p>\n For those looking for some chamber music this week, we recommend heading over to Mississauga, to hear the MSO string quartet perform with soprano Jennifer Tung and pianist Eileen Keown. Works include Schumann\u2019s Piano Quintet Op.44; Adagio and Allegro Op.70 for cello and piano; M\u00e4rchenbilder Op.113 for viola and piano; excerpts from Waldszenen Op.82 for piano; selected lieder for soprano and piano. Tonight they present their second concert of the season featuring Brass repertoire by Bach, Tilson, Bozza, Irvine, Cable, and others.
