Noon. Free!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Today\u2019s noon hour series at the COC features <\/span>Artists of the COC Orchestra Academy performing with mentors of the COC Orchestra in a program of various trinkets and charms from the chamber music repertoire. Details <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coc.ca\/PerformancesAndTickets\/FreeConcertSeries\/January.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s2\">here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Esprit Orchestra<\/span> at Koerner Hall. 8:00 p.m. $20-65<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Year-over-year, Esprit Orchestra continue to show their devotion to the future voices of art music. This week they continue\u00a0with a strong program with Samuel Andreyev and Robert Aitken. The main draw however, is the Canadian premiere of <em>Over Light Earth<\/em> by the young Icelandic composer Dan\u00edel Bjarnason, who is one\u00a0of the most talked about\u00a0composers in the world right now. Details <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espritorchestra.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s3\">here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">St. Lawrence Quartet<\/span> at Jane Mallett Theatre, St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts. 8:00 p.m. $10-55<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The St. Lawrence Quartet are back in Toronto tonight performing:\u00a0<em>Haydn Discovery with Geoff Nuttall<\/em>. The concert includes\u00a0a new work by John Adams commissioned for the SLSQ. Tonight will also\u00a0be a good opportunity to hear their new\u00a0violinist Mark Fewer, who\u00a0replaced outgoing violinist Scott St John last year. Details <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stlc.com\/organizer\/music-toronto\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s3\">here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Friday 30<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">group of 27<\/span> at Trinity-St. Paul&#8217;s Centre. 8:00 p.m. PWYC<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The <\/span>group of 27 are taking you on a journey that promises to leave a smile across your face. The super-group are collaborating with inspiring youth from the Regent Park School of Music in a concert which includes Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s <em>Romance<\/em>, Beethoven\u2019s <em>12 Contredanses<\/em>, Andrew Staniland\u2019s <em>Voyageur<\/em> and Mozart\u2019s Symphony 35 &#8220;Haffner&#8221;. She has gathered an eclectic mix of musicians including Toronto-based bass player and composer Dan Fortin, songstress Robin Dann and visual artist Claire Harvie. Never a dull moment at the Music Gallery. Early music purveyors The Musicians in Ordinary present: <em>Catholic &#8220;House Music&#8221; at St. Michaels: &#8220;The Cure for Religious Melancholy&#8221;<\/em>. They combine John Dowland\u2019s Lachrim\u00e6 or seaven teares figured in seaven passionate pavans for violins and lute with lute airs from his songbooks, consort songs and his psalm settings for the death of his friend Sir Henry Noel. More info <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musiciansinordinary.ca\/concerts\/st-mikes\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s3\">here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Saturday 31<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Canadian Opera Company<\/span>: Wagner\u2019s Die Walk\u00fcre at Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. 7:00 p.m. $49-424<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">With the launch of Mozart\u2019s Don Giovanni last week, the COC are running full speed ahead with a another production of\u00a0 Wagner\u2019s Die Walk\u00fcre. Cast includes: Christine Goerke, soprano (Br\u00fcnnhilde), Heidi Melton, soprano (Sieglinde), \u00a0Clifton Forbis, tenor (Siegmund), and\u00a0 Johan Reuter, baritone (Wotan). The production runs through Feb 22. Tickets are selling fast. Make sure to check back for our review following the concert. New Orford String Quartet will also make an appearance as a special guests.
