With thousands of concerts a year, the area houses\u00a0a large number of the cities cultural gems.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/2014\/03\/27\/bloor-street-officially-recognised-as-the-bloor-street-culture-corridor\/\">The Bloor St. Culture Corridor<\/a>, was first inaugurated by the Royal Conservatory of Music\u2019s Director of Marketing, Performing Arts Heather Kelly, as a way to pool resources between the many world-class arts presenters lining the Bloor St. area.<\/p>\n<p>It has been announced today that the Talisker Players will be the 14th member to join the umbrella organization. The chamber orchestra will be\u00a0joining:\u00a0Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir, Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Toronto, The Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre, Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Bata Shoe Museum, The Royal Conservatory, Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Gardiner Museum, The Japan Foundation, Toronto, University of Toronto Faculty of Music, and The Toronto Consort, and now\u00a0the Talisker Players.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.taliskerplayers.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Talisker Players<\/a> originally started in 1995 as a small orchestra dedicated to accompanying choirs. Over the years the they\u00a0evolved to be more closely associated with chamber music. Besides performing music from all periods, they are particular dedicated to contemporary music, commissioning works by emerging composers as well composers\u00a0Harry Somers, Harry Freedman, Malcolm Forsyth, Jean Coulthard, Violet Archer, and Sir Ernest MacMillan.
