Expect eclectic music for flute, violin, cello, and (wait for it)\u2026 singing pots and pans. Guests include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soundclick.com\/bands\/default.cfm?bandID=630549\" target=\"_blank\">ZARI<\/a>, (a Toronto-based trio specializing in traditional folk music of the Republic of Georgia) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vivamexicomariachi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Viva Mexico Mariachi Band<\/a>. This all-request, all-the-time presenter rarely disappoints. Info <a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicaltoronto.org\/datebook\/mozarts-don-giovanni\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Thursday 20<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Toronto Symphony Orchestra<\/span>\/<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">TSO Chamber Soloists<\/span> at Roy Thomson Hall. 8:00 p.m.\/6:45 p.m. $33\u2013145 (TSO Chamber Soloists @ 6:45 is free)<\/p>\n<p>The TSO continues with a very strong week of programming, including\u00a0a special pre-performance concert with the TSO Chamber Soloists, playing Nielsen\u2019s enthralling Wind Quintet. The TSO takes over at 8 p.m. with Mozart&#8217;s <em>Don Giovanni<\/em> (Overture) K.527, Beethoven&#8217;s Piano Concerto No.5 \u201cEmperor&#8221;, and Nielsen&#8217;s Symphony No.5. Allison Melville and Ben Grossman of the Toronto Consort will perform on period instruments, and try to answer the burning question: how does one decide to switch from the electric guitar to the medieval lute? This is a special benefit to provide transitional housing for immigrant victims of human trafficking. Tonight, we\u00a0live up to\u00a0it with a performance by Anne-Sophie Mutter and the Canadian d\u00e9but of the Mutter Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. Works include Currier\u2019s <em>Ringtones<\/em>, Mendelssohn\u2019s Octet, and Vivaldi\u2019s Four Seasons. A week highlight for certain. For those looking for a light festive show this week, this is it. The concert is in support of Amici Chamber Ensemble\u2019s Young Composers Program. A worthy cause. Tonight they present some very exciting works: Yuasa\u2019s <em>Revealed Time<\/em>, Scime\u2019s <em>Rise<\/em> (World premiere), Schmidt: <em>&#8230; just a stranger here&#8230;<\/em> (World premiere), and Dutilleux\u2019s <em>The Shadows of Time<\/em>. This is the place to be for new music lovers this week.
