Toronto&#8217;s orchestras and music schools brim with wonderful talents worth hearing as soloists, in those rare occasions when they find time on their schedules to do this.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, two of the city&#8217;s finest are giving a recital this afternoon at the cozy, acoustically generous Heliconian Hall in Yorkville.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2033\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2033\" style=\"width: 198px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/207.112.70.56\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/peter.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2033\" title=\"PETER\" src=\"http:\/\/207.112.70.56\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/peter.jpg?w=198\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/03\/peter.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2012\/03\/peter-198x300.jpg 198w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2033\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Peter Longworth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.benjaminbowman.ca\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Benjamin Bowman<\/a>, concertmaster of the National Ballet Orchestra and associate concertmaster of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra and member of the Royal Conservatory of Music&#8217;s ARC Ensemble (among other roles), presents a great programme with pianist Peter Longworth, a member of the Duke Trio, teacher at the RCM&#8217;s Glenn Gould Professional school, and stalwart collaborator.<\/p>\n<p>Between these two powerful artists, expect something special. The programme, which includes newer as well as older pieces, includes Mozart&#8217;s D-Major <em>Sonata<\/em> K. 306 for violin &amp; Piano; Brahms&#8217;s three late Op. 117 <em>Intermezzi<\/em>; a <em>Sonata for Violin and Piano<\/em> by Toronto&#8217;s William Rowson; Schubert&#8217;s B-minor <em>Rondo<\/em>; and the <em>Sonata for Violin &amp; Piano<\/em> by John Corigliano.<\/p>\n<p>The recital starts at 3 p.m., at 35 Hazelton Ave. Tickets are $25 ($20 for students).
