Then Canadian Opera Company general director Richard Bradshaw died on this day in 2007, slightly more than a year after opening the doors to the Four Seasons Centre, which would not have been built without his determination.<\/p>\n

Here’s a little clip of him at work as music director of the COC Orchestra in a smaller triumph, the spring-2007 production of Richard Strauss’s Elektra<\/em> that had me on the edge of my seat from curtain to curtain.<\/p>\n

Bradshaw introduced Toronto to Ewa Podles, whom he accompanied from the opera pit as well as from the stage at Roy Thomson Hall.<\/p>\n

Podles sings Klytemnestra and soprano Susan Bullock has the title role:<\/p>\n
