Oh how lucky we are to be able to enjoy the BBC Proms in either live or on-demand streaming for the rest of the summer. And oh how pathetic our own national broadcaster looks in comparison.<\/p>\n

The First Night of the Proms gets underway at Royal Albert Hall in London at 7:30 p.m. GMT — that’s 2:30 p.m. Eastern. It’s a stunner of a programme that includes Benjamin Britten’s Four Sea Interludes<\/em> and ends with Ralph Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony<\/em>. The conductor is Sakari Oramo.<\/p>\n

The Proms continue to Sept. 7. The BBC does not make every concert available online, but there is enough to keep even the most demanding classical music listener occupied for the rest of the summer.<\/p>\n
