The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the arrival of summer with the return of Symphony in the Park. The free concert takes place July 5, 2026 at Port Credit Memorial Park as a part of Mississauga\u2019s Summer Concert Series.<\/p>\n

The program features a mix of music, including light classical music, pop megahits, and familiar movie themes.<\/p>\n

It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community and share great music in a relaxed and welcoming setting. We\u2019re proud to be part of this celebration of music in Mississauga,\u201d says Maestro Denis Mastromonaco<\/strong>, MSO\u2019s Artistic Director and Conductor.<\/p>\n

More than 2,000 people enjoyed last year\u2019s Symphony in the Park event.<\/p>\n

The City of Mississauga\u2019s Summer Concert Series showcases the city\u2019s thriving music scene with free outdoor concerts throughout July and August. They take place in three different locations: Cooksville Four Corners, Port Credit Memorial Park, and Streetsville Village Square.<\/p>\n

The MSO<\/h3>\n

The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra is one of Canada\u2019s leading hybrid orchestras. Its roster of musicians includes both talented and skilled amateurs and a core of professional musicians who make up the principals of the string, woodwind, brass and percussion sections. They\u2019ve been making music since the 1972\/73 season, and added the Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra in 2014. The organization is committed to music education, performance, and engaging with the community.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the MSO was inducted into the Mississauga Music Walk of Fame.<\/p>\n

Maestro Denis Mastromonaco has served as the MSO\u2019s Music Director since 2013. Originally from Toronto, he graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor\u2019s degree in music, and pursued post graduate studies in Orchestra Conducting at the State University of New York (SUNY), where he earned a Master of Music Degree, summa cum laude. He continued his studies in Europe, and earned diplomas in conducting from the Wiener Konservatorium, the Salzburg Mozarteum and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy.<\/p>\n

Mastromonaco has conducted orchestras across North America and Europe, including the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and members of the Pittsburgh Symphony. On returning to Canada, he focused on community music. He currently serves as Music Director for the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra, Burlington Symphony Orchestra, York Symphony Orchestra, and Opera York.<\/p>\n

Concert Details<\/h3>\n

The concert takes place on July 5, 2026<\/strong> at 6:30 p.m.<\/strong> at Port Credit Memorial Park<\/strong> on the Credit River, with the orchestra performing from under the gazebo.<\/p>\n

There is no seating in the park. If you\u2019d like to attend, please bring a lawn chair or blanket for your comfort.<\/p>\n

The event is well attended, so it\u2019s recommended that you arrive early to secure a good parking spot and a spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the music outdoors.<\/p>\n
