There are 221 nominations across 44 gender-inclusive categories that cover the fields of theatre, opera, and dance.<\/p>\n<p>The nominations are culled from 214 shows presented by 99 TAPA-registered companies. It\u2019s the highest number of shows submitted for the awards since 2019, and an encouraging sign of post-pandemic recovery.<\/p>\n<p>The Dora Awards ceremony takes place on Monday, <strong>June 29<\/strong> at <strong>Toronto\u2019s Meridian Hall<\/strong>, and will be hosted by actor <strong>Amaka Umeh<\/strong>. Umeh received their 9th and 10th Dora Award nomination for ensemble work in both Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary (Crow\u2019s Theatre), and Narnia (Soulpepper Theatre Company, Bad Hats Theatre, and Crow\u2019s Theatre).<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DkTL7NANeD4?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<h2>Nominations &amp; Awards<\/h2>\n<p>The winners of TAPA ancillary awards were also announced at the June 1 press conference. <strong>Michael Caldwell<\/strong> was this year\u2019s recipient of the <strong>George Luscombe Mentorship Award<\/strong>, recognizing his extraordinary mentorship in the performing arts, and designer <strong>Ashley Naomi<\/strong> as this year\u2019s <strong>Pauline McGibbon Award<\/strong> recipient. The award recognizes an early stage artist who has demonstrated exceptional and unique talent.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Ray Ferris Innovation and Sustainability Grant<\/strong> of $25,000 went to <strong>Clay and Paper Theatre<\/strong> in recognition of their innovations in theatrical design, and their efforts to promote environmental sustainability in live theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Several productions garnered multiple nominations.
