The production is steeped in Canadiana iconography and references. Audiences are treated to a myriad of visual splendour, from video projections to flying on wires, swimming, driving a car and, of course, Pinocchio\u2019s growing nose! It follows a heroine on a journey as she leaves the familiar, faces trials and sacrifice, and confronts fear to claim her power. Esie Mensah\u2019s Afrofusion choreography is shaped by lived experience, ancestral knowledge, and contemporary expression, and drawn from traditional and contemporary West African movement, modern dance, and theatrical elements. A Mirror interrogates censorship, authorship and free speech, with a series of unforgettable twists. Directed by Tamara Vuckovic and featuring a number of ARC Resident Artists. Info <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/arcstage.com\/happening-next\/a-mirror\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Mirvish: Shucked<\/h3>\n<p>March 3 \u2013 April 5, 2026<br \/>\nPrincess of Wales Theatre<\/p>\n<p>Corn dogs, corn chips, corn maze \u2014 anyone? This Tony Award\u2013winning musical comedy is making its Canadian debut, starring homegrown talent Danielle Wade as the story\u2019s heroine. Shucked features country-inspired music by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, with a book by Robert Horn. The \u201cfarm-to-fable\u201d tale follows a young farm girl\u2019s quest to save her town, whose livelihood is threatened when their corn crop begins to die. This corny and hilarious Broadway hit is sure to please. Info <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirvish.com\/shows\/shucked\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Mirvish: Cyrano<\/h3>\n<p>March 14 \u2013 April 5, 2026<br \/>\nCAA Theatre<\/p>\n<p>This is the North American premiere of Virginia Gay\u2019s rom-com, reimagined from Edmond Rostand\u2019s 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac, with a queer and gender-flipped lens. The award-winning show has been hailed by Financial Times as \u201cDazzlingly clever\u2026 witty, knowing, satirical and heartfelt all at once.\u201d It stars Eryn-Jean Norv in the titular role. Info <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirvish.com\/shows\/cyrano\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Soulpepper: Detroit: Music of the Motor City<\/h3>\n<p>March 19 -29<br \/>\nYoung Center for the Performing Arts<\/p>\n<p>Following a sold-out run in 2023, this original Soulpepper production by Andrew Penner and Travis Knights is making a comeback. The story is about the collapse and rebirth of Detroit, which created the music that captured the world\u2019s attention: \u2018The Sound of Young America.\u2019 The music features the many genres that came out of Detroit including Motown, Jazz, Hip Hop and Detroit Rock. Info <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soulpepper.ca\/performances\/detroit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>City Centre Musical Productions: The Prom<\/h3>\n<p>March 13-22<br \/>\nMeadowvale Theatre, Mississauga<\/p>\n<p>It is well worth the drive out to Mississauga to experience high calibre productions of the Encore Series. With music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Bob Martin and Beguelin, based on an original concept by Jack Viertel, The Prom is inspired by real-life events of a high school student banned from bringing her girlfriend to prom. Four eccentric, washed-up Broadway actors descend on the town to help her \u2014 and revive their own careers in the process.
