Canadian conductor Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin<\/strong>\u00a0and the storied Vienna Philharmonic<\/strong>\u2019s New Year’s Concert<\/strong> still maintains a stranglehold on the No. 1 position. Next up, at No. 2, is Russian pianist Mikhail Pletnev<\/strong> and his Chopin & Scriabin Preludes<\/strong>, followed by British classical guitarist Alexandra Whittingham<\/strong> and her Letters From Paris<\/strong>.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a trio of releases that ranges from the tried and true to thoughtful interpretations of standard repertoire, and beyond.<\/p>\n There is one sole newcomer to the Classical Chartz Top Ten this week \u2014 Jamie Duffy<\/strong>\u2019s eponymous release. It rises from No. 11 last week to end up at No. 9.<\/p>\n Irish musician, composer and songwriterJamie Duffy comes from the village of Glaslough in County Monaghan. He\u2019s just 25 years old, and Jamie Duffy is his first album after a single (Solas) that garnered more than 135 million streams on Spotify, and an EP. His first Irish head line tour sold out, and he\u2019s also supported Andrea Bocelli and Hans Zimmer on the live stage.<\/p>\n He put together his album over a two year period, inspired by both the Irish and Icelandic countrysides, and revolves around themes of love, light, and trepidation.<\/p>\n Jamie\u2019s music offers a blend of Irish folklore, Western classical, and contemporary elements.<\/p>\n Duffy great in a musical family. His grandparents performed in show bands from the 1960s on, and were very much involved in the local music scene in Monaghan. Jamie studied music locally, and then moved to Belfast to study International Relations and Politics at Queen\u2019s University Belfast.<\/p>\n While there, he worked as a pianist at a hotel and other venues, and released the single Solas. Duffy graduated from university in 2023, and promptly signed with an indie label, releasing a string of singles.<\/p>\n Along with piano, his music used the tin whistle, orchestration, and vocals. He\u2019s said to be inspired by Ludovico Einaudi and Enya, along with traditional Irish music.<\/p>\n Along with his own music, he\u2019s scoring soundtracks for various film and TV projects.<\/p>\n Are you looking to promote an event<\/u><\/span><\/a>?
