Violinist Moshe Hammer will be performing his Farewell Concert on November 14 at Green Sanderson Hall in Toronto\u2019s Hugh\u2019s Room. Joining him will be JUNO award winning pianist Angela Park along with a line up of some of the city\u2019s most celebrated musical artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with excitement and nostalgia that I invite you to my Farewell Concert \u2014 a culmination of hundreds of performances, and a celebration of the works that have spoken most deeply to me. With pianist Angela Park, whose \u201cstunningly beautiful pianism\u201d and sensitive artistry have earned her wide acclaim, we will perform masterworks by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and more \u2014 composers whose music has been a constant companion on my musical journey,\u201d says Hammer in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cA special highlight of the evening will be Bach\u2019s Double Concerto, in which I\u2019ll be joined by three exceptional guests: Jonathan Crow, Barry Shiffman and Eden Silverberg \u2014 all surrounded by a vibrant string ensemble of students from the Royal Conservatory of Music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jonathan Crow, Concertmaster of the TSO since 2011 is also the Director of Temerty Orchestral Program and Violin Faculty member at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Barry Shiffman, among other things, is the 2025 Director of Banff International String Quartet Competition. At just 18 years old, Eden Silverberg is a rising star violinist.<\/p>\n

Moshe Hammer<\/h3>\n

Born in Budapest, Hungary, Moshe Hammer was raised in Israel, and studied violin with Ilona Feher. He went on the study at the Rubin Academy of Music at the university of Tel Aviv, then crossed the Atlantic to continue his studies at the Juilliard School, with Jascha Heifetz in Los Angeles, and then with Yehudi Menuhin in London, UK.<\/p>\n

After winning a medal at the Concours Jacques Thibaud in Paris in 1970, he launched a career as a soloist, performing in North America, Europe, Israel, China, and South America.<\/p>\n

Moshe came to Canada, and became a Canadian citizen in 1974. He served as associate concertmaster of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, concertmaster of the Calgary Philharmonic and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, and performed as principal violin of the Canadian Chamber Ensemble. He was also a founding member of the Amadeus Ensemble.<\/p>\n

As a member of Da Camera Ensemble with clarinettist James Campbell, cellist Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, and pianist William Tritt, he performed across North America and in Europe, including regular trips to the Netherlands where they performed at the renowned Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

The dedicated chamber musician was also a member of the Galaxy Trio with Lenny Solomon and jazz pianist Bernie Senensky.<\/p>\n

Hammer has taught violin at York University, and formed The Hammer Band, a charity group that offers violins and violin lessons to children in at-risk communities in Toronto.<\/p>\n

Angela Park<\/h3>\n

JUNO Award winning Canadian pianist Angela Park is one of Canada\u2019s busiest and most sought after musicians. She is a versatile artist who routinely performs both as a soloist and chamber musician across Canada and the US, and in Europe, Japan, and Mexico.<\/p>\n

Angela has performed as an invited artist at Montreal\u2019s Pro Musica, Ottawa Chamberfest, Toronto Summer Music Festival, Parry Sound\u2019s Festival of the Sound, Winnipeg Virtuosi, Debut Atlantic and Prairie Debut Tours, and with Orchestra London Canada, Sinfonia Toronto, Stratford Symphony, and at the Northern Lights Music Festival in Mexico.<\/p>\n

She is a former founding member of Ensemble Made In Canada when the ensemble won a JUNO Award in 2021 for their album Mosa\u00efque.<\/p>\n

Angela has an extensive recording catalogue as a chamber musician and soloist, including releases on the NAXOS, Canadian Classics, Centrediscs, Leaf Music and Enharmonic Record labels.<\/p>\n
